    i like bari

    but we cannot pay everybody

and him and tari are both comin up

there are several players in this draft that i would trade bari for and start a fresh rookie contract cycle

one of those is maxime raynaud

    as well as rasheer fleming

what is the highest pick in this draft that we could get for bari?

I think we will be able to sign Jabari for a team friendly deal. There is no reason we wouldn't want to keep him.

Jabari should be a starter for us over the next decade.

    Forget about him going anywhere.

He should be but currently isn't - the fact that he's a role player after year 3 who lost his starting job should tell you that it's not worth spending tons of money on a guy who is currently your 6th or 7th best NBA player.

Nah, good 3 and D player. Won't cost us too much to keep I think unless he really wants to bank on himself or somebody sees something we don't and does a big offer sheet.

    It depends.

Jabari if he signs a flat $100M/5yr extension? Probably in the range of pick #3 - #6.

He's a starter level wing/big who shoots and defends 3-5 well at age 21, if he's getting paid ~10% of the cap locked in through his age 23-28 seasons he is a big time asset, the kind that almost never gets traded.

Jabari if he pulls a Kuminga and refuses any extension under $30M+/yr and thinks he can be a star and demands the opportunity + usage to match that? Probably like the 15th pick or later.

11-20. I chose 11-14 but believe it could easily be lower. No way we would get offered a top 10.

I would rather move Tari for a lower pick than Jabari for a higher one. He's probably the most consistent all around player we have among the new guys. At least among those that haven't been paid yet. He's Dillon Brooks replacement and will be a key piece on a championship team for years. It seems to me the only thing he lacks is a handle. He's a plus in every other area I can think of. The ceiling isn't as high as Amen's but I still think at least as high as Alpi's.

    plow and fish engaged

    over the target

agree he should be a starter for 10 years

but he was not last year

and now he is coming up on extension

dont you think we can get his contributions and efficiency fresh out of this draft for another 4 season of a rookie deal

he's going to want over 100 million

then he becomes a cap anchor

no trade value to move him out if needed

he is not the ideal big next to apli

    everybody should recognize that

    bari is a 4/3

if we keep him we gotta keep him skinny and quick to play the 3 and then it is paramount that we move jalen because reed and amen is the future back court

the way i see it at least one of jalen bari tari has to go and it would probably be best if two of them went

if bari is 10 year starter material then he has to have good trade value

i cannot imagine anybody giving up 3-6 pick for him though

if you said 3-6 or 7-9 explain what trade you see possible there

would everybody at least agree bari is not the right player for the 4/5 next to alpi and that if we keep him he has to size down and play 3/4

I’m not paying Jabari more than 20-25 mil/yr max

Jaden McDaniels type money…even tho he’s not as good as him, I’m including “potential” and adjusting for inflation

if he blows up then we can talk a bigger bag, but so far in his career I have been overall unimpressed

the idea of Jabari has been a lot better than the reality to date

Jabari's fine he's probably an above average role player, but the Rockets need a Brunson, Haliburton, SGA, a lead off-the dribble creator who has range to open up the floor and also draw fouls and finish.

Thought Jalen could be it, seems like it's "nah" so far and it's getting late.

Everything else, which role players you keep and why, seems irrelevant honestly. Still need an engine.

The problem with guys like JSJ is that they likely won't offer much surplus value over their extension unless they improve by a good bit after the extension. While I think Green is better than JSJ, his contract is worse. As I think JSJ will have some surplus value, I'd expect he's valued at about late lottery in this draft, and a mid to later FRP in a normal draft. I think the NIL money is weakening the backend of the FRP, but should make drafts in 2-3 years deeper than they are now.

Jabari doesn't have the weight to keep up with physical bigs, or the speed and strength to guard bumpy sf/sg.

He wants to be like Tatum and settle for jumpers.

The Sixers would drive the #3 pick to Houston for Jabari Smith Jr. The Hornets would do the same with the #4 pick.

People have pointed out that seemingly disappointing tweeners like Aaron Gordon and Pascal Siakam have been key playoff performers this year. Somebody will take a chance on Jabari. I think the Rockets should only move on from him if they are getting a big fish.

If the 6ers would give up #3 for bari without attaching pg then that deal will go through on draft night
