He has actually been unlucky the only top pick he has gotten is Chet and Chet is injury prone.

he lost on his bets for example Rox kept our pick (Jalen Green) and Philly also kept their pick (3rd).

Presti Presto is planinng to start his own franchise in the near future. He will tell Silver his demands very soon.

Seriously he is the best GM at trading, hands down.

Unlucky? Lol. 2 different narratives for 2 different GMs who built through the draft is crazy. One is a called a genius the other "lucky". Nobody's called the Spurs GM lucky or downplayed his intelligence

Seems like his formula to success is to sell high. He wont hold on to a stars for too long, he'd rather cash in and stockpile young assets. Most other GMs tend to hold on to stars too long, for sentimental value.

    What???

this is literally the opposite of Presti. Every star and big time player has been drafted and home grown. OKC develops their talent and grows them together. There is no carousel of players, you’re thinking of morey.

    they are the opposite.

It's not that, its that his owner doesn't often want to pay for said stars.

We'll see if it happens again, Presti has drafted a lot of all-stars the issue has always been keeping them there in OKC.

I wonder if this would have been an issue too if they had just stayed in Seattle...

Anybody, @BimaThug, interested in writing up an assessment of OKC’s upcoming cap situation. They have all the makings of a dynasty. Since they have bird rights on virtually everybody on their roster is their owner willing to go the GSW route and happily pay monsterous luxury taxes while they dance to multiple championships? I don’t see how they get de-throned any time soon unless players start leaving or demanding out because of money.

Even if the owner is willing to pay, at some point it really does become restrictive due to the hard cap 2nd apron. It's going to be difficult for them to keep the team together, they are going to have a short window before they have to reload and send some talent out. I'm sure they will keep their core this time around, so I'm assuming SGA/Williams/Chet will be the players they build around.

He's a hell of an asset manager, but like almost all teams that get to this level it required a lot of luck.

Fertitta stupidly forcing through the Westbrook trade.
Paul George wanting to go to the Clippers, who just happened to have SGA.
Having the lottery balls fall their way to get Holmgren.

That said, luck certainly isn't all of it. They have a hell of a program, even during their tank seasons they were actually trying to coach players up. Unlike other teams who just give the keys to KPJ and let their players go out and suck.

They'll be in Boston Celtics territory within 2-3 years. Next year, they can run it back. But once those Chet and Jalen extensions kick in come 2026-27, they may have to dump Hartenstein's contract(and he's almost certainly gone after 2027).

The real problem is heading into the 2027-28 season. That's when their core will all be on bigger contracts if they're resigned. And Shai will be eligible for another extension starting that year. Unless he's feeling really charitable with the Thunder, he'll be earning 70+ mil a season by then.

This is the otherwordly and souped up version of expediting success......the Rockets are doing just that.

Presti is doing it with trades and with moves that go back years or a decade ago......

Nah, I’m not gonna suck Presti’s dick. Media has that covered.

He has a lot of picks. He hit on some, he’s also missed. He ain’t batting 1.000.

    2012: 1-28 Perry Jones (MISS)
2013: 1-12 Steven Adams (HIT; even if he gave up a future HOFer)
    2013: 1-26 Andre Roberson (HIT I guess?)
    2014: 1-21 Mitch McGary (MISS)
    2014: 1-29 Josh Huestis (MISS)
2015: 1-14 Cameron Payne (??? I don’t know, he’s stuck around in the NBA but nothing special either)
2016: 1-11 Domantas Sabonis (HIT; could argue where it all started; traded Ibaka for Sabonis draft rights, Oladipo & Ilyasova; traded Oladipo & Sabonis for George; traded George for SGA and all those picks)
    2017: 1-21 Terrance Ferguson (MISS)
2018: (In 2015) Traded this first for Enes Kanter (MISS)
2019: 1-23 Darius Bazley (MISS) (traded Brandon Clarke for Bazley)
2020: 1-17 Aleksej Pokuševski (MISS) (traded Jaden McDaniels & Immanuel Quickley for Poku)
2021: 1-6 Josh Giddey (??? — traded him for Alex Caruso)
2021: 1-16 Alperen Sengun (MISS — traded him ultimately for Ousmane Dieng — traded three 1sts for Dieng)
2021: 1-18 Tre Mann (???) (traded for Gordon Hayward)
    2022: 1-2 Chet Holmgren (HIT)
    2022: 1-12 Jalen Williams (HIT)
    2022: 1-30 Peyton Watson (traded for JaMychal Green & 2027 DEN 1st)
2023: 1-10 Cason Wallace (moved up 2 spots, traded Dereck Lively for Wallace & took Bertans contract)
    2024: 1-12 Nikola Topic (TBD)
    2024: 1-26 Dillon Jones (TBD)

    2025
•1-15 (Heat traded 2023 1st to LAC in 2019 in 4-team trade for Butler S&T; LAC traded this 1st to OKC in PG trade; OKC traded this 2023 1st back to Miami for 2025 1st & KZ Okpala)
    •1-24 (from PG trade)

    2026
•Two most favorable 1sts from LAC/HOU/own (Houston protected 1-4); WSH gets least favorable (from CP3/Westbrook & PG trades)
    •PHI 1st (protected 1-4 2026/2027) (Horford salary dump 2020)
    •UTH 1st (protected 1-8) (Derrick Favors salary dump 2021)

    2027
•DEN 1st (protected 1-5 2027-2029) (JaMychael Green salary dump 2022; Peyton Watson to DEN)
    •LAC 1st (swap)

    2028
    •DAL 1st (swap) (traded 2024 1st for 2028 1st right to swap)

    2029
    •Own
•DEN 1st (4-team: Thunder traded two 2024 1sts to Pacers; Pacers traded Jalen Pickett & Julian Strawther to Nuggets; Nuggets traded 2029 1st to Thunder; Thunder traded Hunter Tyson & 2024 2nd to Nuggets; Nuggets traded Maxwell Lewis to Lakers; Lakers traded Mojave King to Pacers)

Congrats, he hit it big with SGA, Jalen & Chet.
Wiggins, the other Jaylin Williams & Mitchell in the 2nd; Isaiah Joe off the waiver wire; Dort undrafted…ok.
Took on some salary dumps (for picks) when they sucked. (Maybe FernTits should’ve done this.)
    Signed Hartenstein; traded for Caruso…ok.
But I’m not gonna fellate him.
**** him, **** them, go Pacers.
