Amen, Jabari, and Reed all have very high basketball IQ’s.

Jalen Green leans more on his athleticism. Same for Tari Eason, he leans heavily on his athleticism and has serious mental lapses (but he plays defense with such tenacity, you can’t help but take the bad with the good).

On the other hand Sengun leans on his craftiness and decent Basketball IQ. But his lack of athleticism will always relegate him to traffic cone, instead of rim protector.

Cam Whitmore is incredibly gifted, but his selfishness makes anyone doubt if it’s low basketball IQ, or he’s just perpetually showboating. Either way that’s a recipe for disaster.

Sengun played the perimeter very well especially in the post season. He will never be an elite rim protector, but you are being hyperbolic about his defense.

Just to be clear as the above comes off like I hate Reed...

I'm still high on Reed going forward, but I'm not going to sugarcoat that he played poorly when given the chance to be the backup PG. By the time he played well later in the season, it was really too late to win playoff minutes.

    This is correct and
This is correct and how I feel. If he can get more minutes this year I think he may develop into a good backup guard in the next couple of years, maybe better.

I just think Amen and Jabari could be a lethal pick & pop combo. I agree on the rest though I am not sold on Reed

You think Jabari is a smart player? I think he is maybe the dumbest player on the roster next to Cam, and I think it's probably his biggest issue. There's nobody on the roster (who plays regular minutes) I'm sure will make the wrong decision every time they touch the ball more than Jabari.

And I do not mean to disparage Sengun’s defense. The man played defense just about as good as he is physically able to do so. When I said a traffic cone, it’s a kin to team-defense excellence. A traffic cone may not be flashy but it does its job! Sengun goes out as hard as he can on defense, and it is great to see. Though team defense does not get centers onto any type of all-nba defensive team.

The double big lineup was so good because Stephen Adam’s defended the rim, and Sengun would slide in to be a help-defender…. Sengun has quick feet and hits his spot fast enough to force the offensive player to shuffle around Sengun.

I blame Jeremy Lin for some of the posts in this thread.

Ime Udoka is not the Right Coach for most of the Young Players.

After Amen Thompson and Alperen Sengun.

Ime Udoka benching Young Players with no playing time and disrespected.

Ime Udoka is a outdated Coach, doesn't expand rotation or fits the players together.

Offensive Coach is needed, Most of the Assistants need to be replaced with more intelligence on Xs and Os on Offense.

Amen takes it personal to a Michael Jordan-like level, and i'm down with that. Tyler Herro watch out.

Amen has already surpassed Jalen as far as importance. Jalen is the third fiddle at best if he remains on this team. I think he'll be moved though.

I mean, we know that right now Amen is flashing the highest two way potential, but the title of the thread is extremely misleading. He just said some Rockets players believe Amen is the future of the program. Was this news?

Is this thread about some player only fans flinging poo at each other or something?

Every thread is about player-only fans flinging poo at each other, with the same few people making the same repetitive comments over and over and over and over and over and ...

I guess I'm disappointed in the quality of the poo-flinging.

"Some rockets players" could mean Steven Adams and Jack McVeigh. That's a nice compliment for Amen but it's not the best compliment he's gotten.

you are hilarious even what Jock said is the same as what most of us believe. This year Sengun was no doubt our best player. What jock said was Amen is the future and anyone with eyes can see that.

To me, the two biggest take aways (other than the stuff about Amen) was that Fred is the leader in the locker room and that they can feel their intensity levels drop when Dillon isn't around. And like 75% of this board wants to see those guys gone.

Just wonder if the intensity level might rise again if you added Giannis? I guess the fear of losing your leader in the locker room would depend on who you replace him with.

My fear is that it's the guy so many people seem to want because they think the price tag will be cheap. Kevin Durant. This dude has led his last two teams to such catastrophic disappointment that they've completely imploded. The only time he's ever had success was when he was able to show up and do what he does without any leadership responsibilities in Golden State. Steph and Draymond still led the team - and they didn't even seem to like him.

Yep. That part is a gamble, but I think if all that goes out is FVV and #10, it is a gamble worth taking. Amen’s development as a backcourt player is dependent on FVV being gone or coming off the bench. I don’t know which is the bigger gamble, hoping Ime will play Fred appropriately or bringing on Durant as a replacement in the rotation.
