One way or another we have to consolidate somewhat. Like I want to keep most of the core but there isn't enough minutes for all 7 young guys + Dillon, Fred, Adams, + new guy at 10. I wouldn't mind combining 2 or 3 with picks for an upgrade then bringing in new vet role players. We don't have to do anything crazy but we can't do nothing.
Somewhat of a core is present. Much like the Thunder, Rockets just need to add some prominent 3-point shooters. SG is not the only position asked to be good from three nowadays. More 3's are needed from all positions 1(PG), 2(SG), 3(SF), 4(PF), and 5 (C). ------------- My model for those who don't know me is wings, wings, wings (around 6'6" to 6'11" as a basis) Some players can be 6'4" but play bigger and some are taller than 6'11" but are mobile like a SF. Give me 3 decent facilitators surrounded by multiple 3-point shooters. Not like Garuba 40% from 3 on 1.8 attempts per game. Quantity is important because playoff teams try to take away option #1 and #2......the others need to cover the gap in lost points. 5-8 shots from 3 a game is important. Must have confidence. Jalen Green needs to work on left corner this summer. 24/25 regular season 3P% Right Corner: 45.5% Above the Break: 35.1% Left Corner: 26.7% With others shooting better from 3 around Jalen, he won't be asked to shoot so many. Plus shooting is contagious. I have no doubt Jalen Green surrounded by shooters would have his efficiency go sky high. Refs will be forced to call fouls. Jabari could be used in trade at the trade deadline. (If not used in Cam Johnson/Durant deal) Cam Whitmore would be good to keep; but I can see him used in a Cam Johnson/Durant deal. What team wouldn't want a point a minute player? Defense would come later over time.
It's all good, but when the hate to trade Jalen next year erupts because of his inconsistent play and rockets lose games because he's putting up 7 points in contest. I'm probably just going to lol all the time.
We don't know what we have because there's not enough minutes for the guys we have much less the 10th pick of the draft. We need a consolidation move.
These kind of posts are as useless as someone being proud that they have a job and therefore they don't need to worry about their future anymore. Without mentioning whether that job is $10/hr menial labor or $200K/yr as a doctor. Yes, the Rockets do have a core. Whether that core is good enough to compete for a title before it becomes too expensive or old... that's debatable.
What if the core includes FVV, Dillon and Adams. Hoping Tari, Bari, Sengun, Reed and Whitmore take a step forward in shooting.
I don’t get your point. This shows that OKC built their team through the draft and good trades and acquisitions. I’m all for keeping the core of Amen, Sengun, and Jabari.
The problem is we don't have anyone near SGA's level. It's fine to say run with what we alread Your analogy doesn't work very well because we don't have SGA. The difference between Jalen and SGA is enormous. We will have to trade Jalen and some assets to obtain a better primary offensive option. We can't compete with the Thunder until that happens.
Question: When this core needs a playoff bucket, who are you supremely confident in taking that shot? My answer is none of the above, and as long as that is the case, your core isn’t going anywhere.
Next year’s Amen maybe. I expect him to be really clutch from the mid-range and both corner 3’s. He can get to the hoop pretty much at will as we saw against GSW even when they are packing the paint. If not next year, the year after.
You mean like Aaron Holiday? Grass isn’t always greener. We take for granted the things FVV does well for this team.
Wow, that trade on the Clippers side is shockingly bad in retrospect. I never realised to quite what extant, but ****, OKC absolutely fleeced them. I thought the Westbrook trade was bad for us but holy ****.
