Agree that #10 aint seeing PT next year, barring a big roster rearranging trade.

But there is a long game here ...

The Rockets might not be able to keep the MAG 7 together. Someone like Tari might get more $$$ and PT elsewhere. And someone like Carter Bryant might be able to give what Tari supplies in a year or two. (I have no idea if Tari stays or goes ... or if Carter Bryant will get a second NBA contract. This is just a hypothetical.)

There is a strong possibility of a consolidation trade in the near future. We're a young team and not looking to get younger, but if we trade for a player like Booker or Giannis it would necessitate multiple players going out just to match salary. That frees up playing time for young prospects. The #10 pick would probably go out in that case as well, but we need to think long-term. OKC doesn't trade picks away just because they won't get playing time immediately. Especially within the confines of the 1st and 2nd apron we need to think about developing our depth internally. A player that is too young now could be a valuable role player in 2-3 years when we have far less financial flexibility.

Your point is good, but people need to get Booker out of their heads. He is not being traded. It is not in the make-up of their owner. He wants to be a Sun for life and their dumbsh*t owner is going to comply. I don’t even want Booker unless it was a straight give-away, but the thought is mute anyway. I do think Giannis can be had, but if the price is astronomical like some people think, I’m out. I still think unless SA is giving up the no. 3, we end up with Giannis for a lot less than people are thinking and the package will be around Sengun.

Those are just hypotheticals. Those two and KD have just been rumored to be Rockets targets. I just highly doubt we keep some of the bigger contracts like Jalen's and Dillon's on the books to expiration. I'm sure they along with FVV are available for any star that might be available. The point is that anyone we target is likely going to need at multiple rotation players included just to match salary.

If fvv is included probably only takes 1 (if we accept his team option), but yes and we need consolidation.

Right, if we pick up FVV's option his salary is large enough on its own for big targets. But we haven't picked it up yet and the fact that they extended the deadline to do so indicates that might not be plan A.

Agreed. I think they are bound and determined to extend FVV and hand him the starting PG role next year. It is a horrible mistake.

I think them not immediately picking up FVV's option indicates the opposite, that they are trying to maximize flexibility for the trade market and get his contract more at market value. They could easily have picked it up, penciled him in as a starter all next year, and worked on re-signing him next season when it expires. I don't think FVV on a 1 yr/$45M expiring contract has that much appeal to most teams honestly. He is much more appealing to trade partners if it is a more reasonable amount and for more years, say $30M/yr or so for three years. And if we swing and miss on the trade market he could still be a long-term reserve, but I think priority is to trade him.

To me, if you do that, you're doing it to force Jalen into the FVV role. I'm fine with that but the turnovers will go up.

It will be a horrible mistake if Houston gives him a big contract.

My take is, if we cant get one of the shooters. Then we should try and get Maluach if still available.

I don't care much for Maluach, he's a real project, but I like Jakučionis and Demin quite a bit.

I'm not interested in moving Brooks - he was arguably our 3rd best player last season while being very consistent and has a couple years left on a value contract - maybe trade him next year.
If both of them happen to be gone at 10, unless someone else fell that was unexpected, I'm probably looking to move back several spots, pick up a future asset and take one of Will Riley, Coward or Fleming.
Riley's a big 2 guard with some handles, very good catch and shoot from deep. Size to defend 2-3-4.
You could also convince me to take Will Clayton Jr ..... that dude lives in the paint, maybe one of the top 4-5 passers in this draft and can shoot it. Someone's getting a guy who can help his team when he comes off the board.

The NBA invented abbreviations and Numbers for a reason.

    KM# and KJ#

Numbers will be added after joining a team.

He is also a stagnant and slow PG......outdated model

meaning he is what he is but won't get any better or learn new tricks, we are lucky if he can come close to Year 1 production......

Perhaps DB can be included in a trade for a big fish e.g. Giannis.

They are going to sign FVV for 40-45 million per year. If we took a poll right now of who most think is Udoka’s favorite player who would be the answer? FVV and it wouldn’t be close. In fairness, only FVV and Amen (and Adams) showed up in the playoffs.

Are you ready to hand the keys of the franchise to Reed Sheppard or Aaron Holiday….I’m not.
