Because of his contract id say bottom of the lotto. Only a mediocre team would want to take on the Jalen gamble

Jalen Green for the Bulls #12. Or Hawks at #13. Can't trade him for anyone in the Top 6-8 because they'd just take Johnson/Edgecomb/Kasparas/Knueppel instead if they really needed a shooting guard.

Raptors could bite at 9 depending if Kasparas is gone.

    Salary implications withstanding...
    11-14 before draft.
7-9 once summer league is over.

    Everyone loves the unknown.

I picked 2 second rounders mainly because of his contract. His value was highest last year after his streak and before he got paid when we may have gotten a mid to low first round pick for him.

You definitely get the unknown with Jalen. You get it every time he hits the floor.

I have posted this proposal in the random trade thread:

Jalen Green to Chicago for Kevin Huerter, Zach Collins and Pick #12

Why Chicago does it: they add Jalen Green's sizzle to a squad already featuring Coby White, Josh Giddy and Matas Buzelis. Thats a playoff team in the (L)eastern Conference with a roster full of guys who should be improving. All at the cost of expiring contracts and a late lottery pick.

Why Rockets do it: Huerter starts next season and is a plus shooter in his prime. He is an expiring contract who could be re-signed or dealt at the deadline depending on how things go. Collins is for matching purposes but is really just cap relief with the upcoming extensions incoming for Houston. The real payoff for me is the ability to draft 2 of the guys that I think project to be awesome role players. Both Coward and Flemming project as plus defenders with their elite length. And both have shown to be good shooters.

    FVV/Reed
    Huerter/Whitmore/Coward (pick #10)
    Thompson/Brooks/Eason
    Smith/Eason/Flemming (pick #12)
    Sengun/Adams/Collins

Coward and Flemming spend much of the season at RGV coming up to Houston for each home stand to be with the team.

Is Huerter capable defensively? I think that would be an upgrade all around and I love Coward's fit on this team.

No, Huerter is not a good defensive player. But you hope the way he opens up the offense with his shot makes up for his shorcomings there. Moving forward in this scenario I think Whitmore and Coward are the guys at the 2.

Don't agree on the numbers, but agree that the general trend of players being worth less the farther from the draft is true for most young players (summer league may be a little exaggerated though). The caveat being that the guys that play great become worth much more than their pick.

I'm out on Jalen, but can we at least get a real upgrade and not a downgrade that people call an upgrade because of the sand in their vagina making them stupid?

I'm not arguing that Huerter is a better player in a vacuum. But he's a better shooter (38% on 7 attempts per game with Chicago after leaving Sac). I think he's likely a better fit than Jalen. But it's Coward thats the prize for me as a potential 3 and D wing on a cost controlled deal.

Is he really a better shooter though? Selectively choose a stretch of Jalen's season and discount the rest. Huerter shot 33% from 3 last season, you can't just discount some of it because it was on a different team, it's the same player lol.

Green is a known asset. I'd take him over the whole draft board.

What does this mean? You wouldn’t trade him for flagg?

But trending down, averages over years are mostly useless. His last 3 seasons were 40% 36% 33% and his scoring numbers went 15.2, 10.2, 9.9. He looks to be already on the decline at 26, and not remotely an "upgrade" come on now.

Yes, he is. Jalen's best 3pt% was .354 this season. Huerter's worst season in 6 seasons before last year was .361. And he shot .376 in his time in Chicago last season. He just had a bad run in sac.

ITT: Jalen is one of the worst starting SGs in the league... let's trade him and some fairy dust for a top 3 pick.
