Indeed! I’m in Europe today and this was a great one to wake up to! Just like that, Altuve is back above league average OPS. I believe I posted after his first Mariners home run that it was mental and he was going to go on a tear. It’s so good to see - I literally love Jose Altuve!
- Yanier walked! (And got a hit, but the walk is a better sign on his pitch selection) - Whitley lives! And can pitch in a non-theoretical way.
Someone here can correct me if I heard wrong but TK and Blum indicated that Altuve had deferred the possible AB before Zach walked.
If Espada did not force Altuve to take that at bat and get a hit, Espada should have been fired on the spot.
What a great win, I needed that offensive fire and Altuve to get multiple HR`s..............in the back of my mind I know the A`s are a glorified AAA club but I will take it...................let's do it again
Did you know Joe Espada was drafted in the second round (one pick ahead of Jimmy Rollins), but never played in the majors? He was in same draft class as A.J. Hinch (3rd round), Alex Cora (3rd round), and Roy Oswalt (23rd round).
