Though there are real good arguments that these aren't perfect, I use OBP rather than BA, OPS+ over SLG%, dWAR for defense and would calculate bases advanced by all runners over RBI. The artificial distinction between a sac fly, a sac bunt and advancing a runner with a solid contact out makes no sense to me. Even if your fast enough to beat out a double play, it should mitigate the evaluation.

9 runs in 4 innings… and a pair of balls smoked with 108 mph exit velocities went for outs.

It’s nice to face a LHP. This lineup is so freaking dangerous against those guys.

I really hope Cam Smith gets on a heater and moves up in the order.

Jake Meyers batting really high in the order, he might go down in production.

Cam Smith, Yanier Diaz, Christian Walker all need to step up.

I don’t think the Astros were serious about moving Tucker until the Cubs were willing to include Cam Smith in the deal.

With Smith in the Deal, it was an offer the Astros simply could not refuse. I wonder how they maintained a professional face, because they looked like “children at the candy store” when talking about the trade at the press conference.

The Astros were giddy at the press conference taking about the trade, especially that the Astros acquired Cam Smith in the trade. I just figured he’d linger at the minors for the season and perhaps be a September call up. Being the everyday start out of spring training, surprised me.

I don’t think the Astros were bluffing that they had Cam rated as a player they’d of drafted at the top of the 2024 draft. The dude can rake, and he is still so young.

Cam Smith was in college 12 months ago. He's on pace for 4 WAR as a rookie. He's doing just fine.
Yainer is playing at an acceptable level
Christian Walker and, more than anyone, Yordan need to step up.

Yordan needs to HEAL. Then swing the bat.

If they'd known about the fracture, they might have changed his recovery timetable and rehab schedule. There is some question in the reports we have gotten about whether the fracture was there before rehab or if premature rehab induced the fracture. This may be more of a question to those without a full medical background or maybe among the medical people.

It's just hard to distinguish between intentional vagueness for competitive reasons and imprecise medical testing because of urgency to find out something.

Perhaps a modified protocol by imaging for major problems with some swelling and again after swelling is under control. This is part of the never ending battle between what is knowable and the desire to know NOW!

I always appreciate your music clips. What's odd about that is I don't usually like music clips because of my narrow view of what constitutes actual music.

@Nook Cam has one of the lowest launch angles in the majors along with elite bat speed. Do you think they will adjust his swing in the off-season. Seems like if he just gets it up to average he would get a lot more homeruns.

I'm no @Nook, thank god, but the launch angle can be fixed without fxing up his barrel rate and such. The thing I love about him most is that he hits the ball HARD to RF...the pull power will come

These more major adjustments should happen in the offseason. Let the kid play!

His launch angles are about the same as Dubon at around 7 degrees. MLB average is around 12.5 and guys like Shohei and Judge are closer to 20. Cams bat speed is close to those guys so he obviously has some crazy power potential.

Indeed. He's already dealing with so much newness this year I'd be hesitant to put more **** on his plate.

He's surpassed my expectations already for him as a rookie, and now my expectations are higher.

I haven't heard anything specific about his launch angle - but I know that they have been very careful to not overwhelm him
