The Astros don't have to cut a player like they did last season when they had an underperforming 1B and Dubon playing nearly every day.
Most don't understand how good a .732 OPS is, when you are hitting for that exactly one year after playing in the ACC Tournament
The problem with trying to trade for Lowe is TB is 1 game back of us in the wild card standings. Now, Lowe only has one more year of control left and it is at 11.5 million, so i'm not saying they wouldn't move him. But I think the price would be significant for a player with such a long list of injuries. Dude would fit in great in the lineup though, no doubt about that
This - guy is an idiot. His conditioning is a joke ..... they have done everything possible to keep him away from the The Olive Garden endless pasta bowl and nothing works.
This is truly the absence makes the heart grow fonder example. Garcia was serviceable but he was never a TOR guy. Usually only went 5 innings. Had some gems but he was one I thought the pitch clock effected the most.
There are between 150-180 SP jobs at a time. Garcia was probably around the 60th best pitcher from 21-22. Where do you rank the best serviceable starter? Where do you rank the worst ToR pitcher? Off the top of my head, I would assume calling Garcia serviceable is as much if not more hyperbole than call Garcia a ToR pitcher.
Who has the best odds of making the AL All-Star team as of right now? 1. Josh Hader 2. Hunter Brown 3. Isaac Parades 4. Jeremy Pena 5. Jake Meyers
Hunter Brown. Then Paredes then Hader. I don’t think Pena or Meyers have much shot even though their overall production easily places them in the top ~50 position players in the league (with Pena being much higher than that). It’s just really really hard to make the all star team at SS or CF.
Meyers doesn't have name value so I can see him not having much of a shot but Pena is a ALCS and WS MVP and is now hitting lead-off. His glove and fielding is top notch too. Which SS have been better in the AL besides Bobby Witt? I'll admit I don't keep up much with other teams.
Peña ain’t making it. Meyers ain’t making it. And that’s fair/ as there been nothing in either career to indicate all star worthiness so far. If he has this kind of start next year and doesn’t make it I will be pissed.
Volpe (Yankees media market), Neto (Angels token) , Wilson (A’s token), and Witt (best AL SS) all probably get in before Pena.
The average MLB team has roughly 540 PA against LHP so far. The Blue Jays are ranked 28th with 423. Coming into today we had 258 PA against them. That's 9 whole games less than average against guys our entire lineup is at their best against. That's a problem.
How much is active avoidance (with starters) v just bad luck. I know they avoid us with non closet lefties in bullpen in close games, but are teams really going to a lot of trouble to re-higher their entire starting rotations to avoid us?
Do NOT move the leadoff spot in the batting lineup. This is anyone in the clubhouse's team for the taking. Leadoff = leader / clubhouse / team-future Its JP3's time to coach everyone to a victory. He won the WS MVP in his rookie season. Always gotta be a "players-manager" any season. Thats the dude who can form this team into a champion. Players/hitters also need to be more aware with opposition arsenal. We've gotten away from the advanced stuff.... prob bc technology costs.
Hard to say for certain, given that there are 30 teams and only one other squad is even in our vicinity(also right hand dominant) it's a pretty striking number. I know for sure it's happened at least twice in season that a team has made a small change to their rotation, and the Mets had their one lefty start the second series when he probably should have started in the opening day series.
Yeah- easy to do at start of season a little harder later on. What probably hurts is if a lefty is getting skipped because they had a day off heading into the series or something it’s probably their shittiest starter so that makes it even worse.
