Yeah. I actually think Salazar is a really great fit for that 13th position player role long term. Hes not a top prospect so it’s not like his development is crucial or that he needs playing time to develop; in fact, simply getting exposure to the big league routine and getting to know the coaches and players has value for him if he’s being considered as the backup next year. He offers value because he’s a good pitching staff manager, he can help with game planning and hitter analysis. Hes a lefthanded bat they can stash on the bench who doesn’t strike out much. And he provides insurance in case Espada wants to do something with Caratini or Diaz mid-game. And from what I’ve seen, he is a good teammate and clubhouse guy who won’t create problems if he’s not playing.
Oh yes, missed that one. So we got swept once (Giants) and swept an opponent once (Blue Jays) while never having a streak longer than 3 in either direction. Interesting start so far.
You do if your backup catcher is the only other guy who can hit lefty and is clearly one of the 9 best hitters on the team, at the moment.
We have Salazar’s on the roster/ he’s been up 24 days or something and yet to record a stat. Hes still on the roster bc we don’t need room on the roster if I had to guess. should be gone as soon as Yordan comes back and someone else from the minors earns their way up.
