That's back to you not only not realizing that basketball is a team sport but also hilariously believing that a max of two players in the entire league in a given season should have max contracts.

Apparently Giannis also sucks because his team lost.

that is a WILD thing to say, sabonis is not a top 40 player and mobley is easily top 20

I don't think it's that wild of a thing to say. We can agree to disagree.

ya, it's like the jalen vs edwards or sengun vs jokic stuff, no matter how absurd the take is, you're entitled to it IMO.

What separates my comment vs. the ones you listed is that there is the majority of statistics back it up. But if you're not going to counter with anything of substance there's no reason to keep the convo going.

Mobley 12th in epm, sabonis 37th. Cavs had a +12.2 with mobley on the court, kings were +2.7. Sabonis is a solid floor raiser for teams who's goal is to be around .500 and be a 7-10 seed, he has zero value to a team trying to compete in the playoffs.

Those are good points. I do think the caliber of team around Mobley helps elevate those +/- stats. Mitchell is far better than anyone Sabonis has as a teammate.

Ultimately, I think they both have similar flaws and work best as supporting players. We saw some of Mobley's limitations in the playoffs over the years, but he is so young and will surely get better.

Sure, sabonis is rarely in the playoffs because he isn't very good so having him take up a bunch of cap space kills your team. He did have fox and derozen who are pretty good. The one time sabonis did make the playoffs he was absolutely awful, as expected.

The simple fact is the didn't draft the best player available. You can't play hypocriticals with future draft picks when we just witnessed a team in the play in game get the #1 pick. Who's to say they wouldn't have a better record but still draft in the same spot? Point being the immaturity of Green, KPJ, and Christopher sparked the chain reaction of signing FVV and Dillon , both of whom I like BTW. You also act like being a 2nd team all nba and DPOY yr 4 isn't trash or something. You're also acting like he's tapped out which can't be further from the truth.
I can't believe you took the FVV critic literal. I just see he can't by anyone even on a big switch. That also limits this team

I wouldn't have .... just too much bad can happen with a malcontent on your team.

For the record, I wasn't a fan of Jalen then and less so now - I was one of 2-3 people who wanted eventual ROY Scottie Barnes.
I thought Jalen had been horribly coached and had some of the worst shot mechanics we'd seen from such a high level prospect ... pretty much ever.

I was really high on Trey Murphy iii too, would still love to have that guy in a Rockets uniform. But drafting him #2 was a real reach. He didn't have that #1 option potential, he is a complimentary offensive player - but a really good one. He was the only 50/40/90 shooter in that draft and has shot .454 / .383 / .875 as a pro.

I didn't really like Mobley .... he's been better than I expected for sure.
But once he made it clear he wanted no part of playing for this franchise, I don't see how you can draft that guy. It has the potential to get real ugly and you probably lose value as a result.
IF I'd have had him #2, I'd have moved on to my next prospect if the gap wasn't a huge one or possibly traded out of the pick. He wasn't a Wemby or Flagg - a guy who can transform a franchise.

Looking back, I can't blame Stone for taking Green, to win at a high level in this league, you need a go to offensive force and to many, Jalen appeared to fit the mold. Here we are 4 years later, Jalen's been a massive disappointment, and we still don't have a #1 offensive guy.

In terms of Mobley, he was getting info from a franchise that was spiraling. I would've drafted him and shown him otherwise. Other than jumping high, I didn't see the appeal of Green. At least with Mobley you could see the bbiq, modern switchable big. Green can be a contributor, just not your 2nd best player, more like your 3rd best player

Mobley and Sengun and Amen would be a killer front court.

The board liked Tari and Sengun prior to draft and Stone drafted them. Board also like Mobley, Stone didn't. Should have listened to us.

The fact that KPJ was a reason for Mobley's dad to not want come here is wild. And later proved correct, as KPJ was a cultural killer. Again lot of us didn't think KPJ was the stray cat worth saving at the very beginning. We had long paragraphs on it.

Rockets doing well, but we could've been even better and closer to teams like the Thunder.

Wait, what? How did KPJ have any effect on the Green/Mobley pick?

Mobley dad coached at the college where KPJ played. Was a talking point, where he didn't want his son to work out with us. Played a part in his decision. HOU is a much bigger market than Cleveland. No state income tax. Back then, we also didn't have a big man (Wood didn't count), they had Allen already, so fit was a question over there (double bigs weren't popular back then). #2 also has a bigger starting salary than #3rd pick, there were many reasons HOU had an edge over CLE.

I absolutely do not remember that at all.

I was very, very in on Mobley at #2 that year

You cant really know who is BPA right? Nobody knows who is the BPA during the draft they can only make an assumption. Stone obviously made the wrong decision, but that wrong decision ended up with Rockets getting better players like Sengun and Amen. What do you mean you can't play hypotheticals when thats literally what you are doing now. We drafted Jalen not Mobley so you saying what if we drafted Mobley thats literally a hypothetical. Every decision will have a reaction ok we can still win no 1 with a better record but we can also drop even further down and miss the chance to get our guys. Like I said I love Sengun, Jabari and Amen and dont want any other changes to what happened.

Dillon and FVV were signed not because of immaturity, its because the tanking time was over and Rockets needed to win because their pick is going to OKC. Rockets needed to start winning games cuz they are just giving their pick to OKC.

I never said Mobley was tapped out I said he is overpaid. I dont believe anybody who isnt top 5-10 should make the super max. Mobley is what, top 15-20? Ok so he shouldnt make the super max. Lots of the arguments against me just miss the point. I dont think Mobley is bad I just think he shouldnt be making the super max. Super Max should be reserved for the best players in the world. Players like Devin Booker, Jaylen Brown, Mobley, Barnes, ok they may be good players but they are all overpaid in my eyes. You can feel free to disagree but thats still what I think.

Super max is just not worth 2nd team all nba IMO, it should be first team all nba.

IIRC he refused to work out l cuz Rockets were a bad team and had KPJ who his dad felt was a bad influence. KPJ has problems in school including stealing laptops, but it was kinda ironic cuz KPJ was actually drafted by the Cavs and only got traded cuz he threw food at people after getting his locker moved to the back or w/e.

This is another dimension if we got Mobley highly likely his dad wouldnt stand for 2 more years of Silas tanking.
