And when he refuses to show up you get Antoine Carr, Michael Dickerson, Othella Harrington, Brent Price, a 2003 first-round pick outside the lottery. That's great for the franchise
You can't be this dense. Its structured, plain and simple. No, its not in a vacuum especially when the goal was to be sorry and collect the best young players. I mean he's 18 10 3 a couple of blocks and shooting what 38% from 3? Oh yeah, defensive player of the year with that. Comparing a 30 FVV who can't get by me vs a 22 yr old double double dmvp isn't even close. Even with Mobley the team could've been just as sorry especially when the front office was purposely tanking.
All the other shiit aside - would you have drafted him when he refused to work out for the team and knowing he didn't want to be here? Maybe he shows up, maybe you end up in a Steve Francis situation where you get little value in return.
Then he sits, and waits....you call his bluff.......if he was the better talent you don't settle for less.....the Rockets could have worked it out. DD
lol stop capping FVV would score 300 on your ass. I like how you think you are better than an actual NBA player. 18/10/3 is not worth 46M-60M. Its fine if you disagree but to me a super max needs to be a top 5 player to be worth it. Mobley won DPOY but Pacers and Siakam just destroyed him. Is that the play of a top 5? No. So he is overpaid its simple as that. Sengun puts up same 18/10 nos but only makes 38M and be almost half of Mobley's salary his final year. Is Mobley 2x as good as Sengun? No. And that is why Mobley is overpaid. Mobley would shore up weaknesses that CWood had I doubt Rox would still be the worst team. The other thing is one reason we kept tanking is because Jalen was so bad his rookie and the other guys we drafted apart from Sengun were busts. If we got Mobley the whole draft would change for example we wouldnt get Josh Christopher who was only drafted due to Jalen. If we got actual good rookies to build around like say Quentin Grimes and Trey Murphy Rox might have stopped tanking cuz now they have actual players to build around unlike before when it was just Sengun. You are calling me dense but clearly you sre the one with the very simplistic view of the situation. At the end of the day I prefer Amen and Sengun to Mobley so I am happy how things turned out. Getting Mobley will have a butterfly effect on the Amen draft whether you admit it or not so this timeline is the best scenario for the Rox.
Agreed, Mobley is a professional and would have played. Plus we’d listen to him and cut KPJ. but in hindsight I think I still prefer Sengun, Jabari and Amen over Mobley, and what would have probably been one of Mathurin/Sharpe with one of Bilal/Walker
A 23 year old DPOY, All NBA second team player is a super max player. I know basketball isn't really your thing, but this is your second worst take behind when you tried to say Reed Sheppard has bad shot mechanics. Just stop embarrassing yourself now, it's not going to get any better.
18/10 super max player. Pretty clear who is the one who doesnt understand. Just remember you wanted Stone fired 2 yrs ago. Not sure why you keep running your mouth when you are wrong at every turn.
I'm not surprised that you are dumb enough to base your entire opinion on raw stats. Mobley at 23 is top 15 in the league in win shares and VORP, that's the kind of player you want to lock up for as long as you can....and that means giving him the super max. Before he's done, Mobley likely wins at least a few more DPOY awards and will likely remain a top 15 player in the league for the next decade. Again, I know basketball isn't really your thing, but this is embarrassing.
Right Mobley is such a super max his team got folded 4-1 by the Pacers. What happened to the top 15 player for the next decade? Didnt the same thing happen vs NY bigs last year?
Weird way to look at things, jordan lost in the 1st round in the playoffs his 1st 3 attempts, doesn't mean he wasn't a top 15 player.
You mean the team likely to be headed to the finals? Also, I keep forgetting that basketball isn't really your thing, so i should probably explain that it's a team sport One of these days you'll start to learn the basics of the sport
Werent the Cavs supposed to be the one heading to the Finals? So you think the super max has no responsibility to win the game? lol
Jordan's team wasnt stacked when he lost in the first round. Mobley was playing with 3 all stars/former all stars. How are they even in the same situation? Whats weird is you thinking Mobley is the same scenario as Jordan. If Mobley was a top 15 player and we know Dmitch is a top 15 player how they lose to the Pacers 4-1?
It happens? They didn't have garland at all in the series and even mobley got hurt. You're throwing away a 23 year old star because he lost in round 2? Are you throwing away every rockets player since they didn't get as far as the cavs?
Throwing away? When did I throw away Mobley? I just said he was overpaid as a super max player, which he is. No one on the Rockets is making the super max so again I dont get your comparisons.
No need for name calling. It's just basic statistical analysis. Mobley had a great season but not quite on par with the folks I listed.
