We are there in some cases. Some of these guys that own their own schools make more than MLB coaches. The other issue is an organization like the Dodgers can out spend everyone else is what they pay, how many and what perks they give the player development and coaching staffs and that makes a huge difference. It is part of why I roll my eyes when people talk about those Yankee farm system prospects in the late 80’s and 90’s and Dodgers now. When your budget is three times the average MLB team, you better produce some very good prospects.
Yeah, I don’t look at Seattle and think “now that’s great weather right there”. San Diego…that’s what you want.
Gordon has started 3 games. He's pitched into the 5th or 6th inning all 3 times. He's given up exactly 3 runs each time. Bryan King has come in relief and has recorded a win in all 3 of his starts.
My dad is from there. I have family on both sides from there, I lived there. Is it totally tire? Nah. It’s true ish though. Close enough for a bulletin board talking trash about a division rival.
Huge series win. Altuve and Walker heated up a little bit, Gordon and McCullers had competitive starts. Houston has a chance to go into June with the division lead and an offense that is heating up heading into the softest month of their schedule.
Right now I'm watching "Sandlot" with my 80+ mother who has never seen this before. It's pretty ****ing great.
Up until this February, for the last 19 years I worked for the largest coffee chain in the world. I was up there quite a bit, and you're not wrong, its weird. Add in rampant drugs and crime that are completely tolerated, yea I didn't love it.
I'm pretty happy with what I've seen from Gordon. I never expected him to be a dude, but I always thought he had a good chance to be a solid 5th/6th starter who consistently finds the plate and gobbles up some passable regular season starts. So far that's exactly what he's been.
I lived in El Cajon from 91-94, loved it, unbelievable weather BUT I ran out of money and moved back to TX.
Yep. Plenty of teams have won the World Series with 5th SP way worse than what Gordon has been so far. You don’t want him pencilled in to start a playoff game but if he’s a BoR guy during the regular season that’s totally ok, and if he’s your 6th/7th SP then you’re in great shape.
I think he got very lucky. First one being that the catcher was actually ready for that throw. Pena was at second and could have easily thrown to 1st for the 3rd out (I don't think Williamson is that fast). Question: if he drills the runner going to second in the head, what is the call?
