Found this on another basketball forum, but I was looking for confirmation... Local radio stations reportedly saying the Kidd to Portland deal is done. (stations in Portland)... "Yes, KFXX in Portland. They also scooped the stories on the Blazers signing Van Exel and the contract extension of D-Miles so they are pretty viable. They are reporting that the deal is finalized and will be announced in the next few days."
Stoudamire is said to be in the deal along with Rahim, for Kidd and Mourning, that's one of the versions I read about on another forum.
Isn't Kidd out of action until January or February? If so, that really makes Portland weaker for this year, no?
The Blazers just got Nick Van Exel and haggled with Darius Miles over his contract, why would they turn around and get ANOTHER PG with a bloated contract? BS.
Wow, Portland doesn't care about cap space if this goes down. Kidd's & Van Exel's contracts are huge, and they will be paying big dollars the next three years for a backup center with Zo.
NJ should just take this deal instead, then they won't have to worry about giving Rahim a fat contract when his current one expires... Houston trades: SG Reece Gaines (1.8 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 9.6 minutes) SF Bostjan Nachbar (3.1 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 0.7 apg in 11.5 minutes) PG Tyronn Lue (10.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 4.2 apg in 30.7 minutes) PF Maurice Taylor (11.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.4 apg in 27.8 minutes) SF Clarence Weatherspoon (5.0 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 0.6 apg in 16.7 minutes) Houston receives: PG Jason Kidd (15.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 9.2 apg in 36.5 minutes) C Alonzo Mourning (8.0 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 0.7 apg in 17.9 minutes) Change in team outlook: -8.4 ppg, -5.4 rpg, and +1.9 apg. New Jersey trades: PG Jason Kidd (15.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 9.2 apg in 36.5 minutes) C Alonzo Mourning (8.0 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 0.7 apg in 17.9 minutes) New Jersey receives: SG Reece Gaines (1.8 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 38 games) SF Bostjan Nachbar (3.1 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 0.7 apg in 45 games) PG Tyronn Lue (10.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 4.2 apg in 76 games) PF Maurice Taylor (11.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.4 apg in 75 games) SF Clarence Weatherspoon (5.0 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 0.6 apg in 52 games) Change in team outlook: +8.4 ppg, +5.4 rpg, and -1.9 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED Due to Houston and New Jersey being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and New Jersey had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Portland should trying to get young and fresh this is a bad move for them i think Kidd's best days are behind him.
As inviting as this might look Houston doesn't need this. They are thin enough as it is, and doing a 4 for 2 trade where the 2 players they get are HUGE injury risks, it would just end up messing things up in the long run.
some of us here forget about how rich the owner of the blazers is. salarie cap and luxury tax issues do not worrie him at all. now if kidd is healthy for the majority of the season.... ratliff randolf miles anderson kidd -------- NVE patterson zo that team is perfect ofr kidd. imagine miles and anderson running a fast break lead by kidd...this team would be FAR better than what the nets ever had. if i was portland i wouldn't hesitate to putt the trigger on this one. for the nets, good deal too. they take on only ending contracts. and can start next summer with a clean slate (sans rj's big contract)
At first they were saying late November, now I've always been hearing sometime in December he'll be back. They probably don't know but I'm guessing it definitely wont be as late as February. -Nick-
The team also held discussions with Portland about a possible Kidd-for-Shareef Abdur-Rahim swap, a trade that could resurface again since Abdur-Rahim is unhappy. The Nets talk regularly with Blazers GM and former Nets GM John Nash. However, two sources say Kidd would never play for Portland. His only recourse would be to threaten a holdout and it's hard to picture a team wanting to take on a disgruntled Kidd with five years and over $90 million remaining on his contract. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/story/247988p-212404c.html
