Lmao. Sure thing man. The dude who is most famous for bad takes on this entire board is trying to tell me I watched casually because I drew the very obvious and not even slightly controversial conclusion that Cam has a lot of growing and work to do, and isn’t ready to be the starting SF. Good deal. You didn’t even refute my points. Because you can’t.
I think if we developed him he could startable within the next couple years. Would love to see him be a spark off the bench next season with real minutes. I hope we get KD and could develop Cam to take over in the next couple years or be a replacement for Green if we have to trade
He’s right. You either haven’t really watched, feed into the negative Cam Whitmore spin, or you deep into understanding and evaluating talent. Can Whitmore is the one guy on the team who can keep up scoring-wise with the likes of SGA and Anthony Edwards. The kid is only 20. Yiungrst player on the team. He’s justified being as frustrated as he is carrying the talent he has.
Jalen who will be 24 and a 5 year vet this time next season has played over 10,000 nba minutes and we've still got folks waiting for him to take the next step...meanwhile youngest player on the team Cam Whitmore who isnt even 21 yet and has only played 1,700 NBA minutes is being written off by some.
No, he is not right. Drawing the very obvious conclusions from Cam’s very obvious weaknesses is not hard to grasp or controversial at all. I never said he’s not talented. I never said throw him out and give up on him. I said he is not ready to be the starting SF, he is a black hole, he has a limited feel for the game, and his defensive focus and effort come and go. None of that is anything remotely like a hot take — it is self evident.
The post he was replying to was mine and in no way shape or form did I write Cam off. That’s a straw man.
You know why people say that, because I see **** way way way before most people and comment on it.....it is ok to not see what I see in Cam......there are no guarantees.....but Cam Whitmore has the CHANCE to be the best player on this team, the true alpha, out of all the players, only he and Amen have that chance. No guarantees......but just as you have bought into being a follower on Cam's bad decisions you have done the same about me......clearly I get some wrong as everyone does, but that narrative is in itself wrong. DD
Good to know that you can see the talent, he needs the minutes to settle down and in. Exactly, Cam outshot Jalen, and is supposed to have had a bad year....weird that? If Cam starts and Jalen is gone, the Rockets are instantly better. DD
Yep. Really the only thing Jalen has done better is get assists. And its really not THAT much better because Jalen isnt a good passer himself. Cam's defensive. scoring, rebounding numbers are all better than Jalen's.
A lot of the Cam hate comes from Jalen fans, I'm convinced. Cam was great his first year and then stuck on the bench his second year. He was mocked by some to go top 5 or 6 for a reason.
This is 100% true, they are afraid that Cam will take the shine off of Jalen - hell I think the entire Org might be thinking that. DD
You’re right it must have nothing to do with the fact that he lied to the media about not knowing what he has to do to get minutes and then Udoka and Stone coming out a few weeks ago and saying “that’s not true, we told him exactly what he needed to do”. It has nothing to do with the fact that he statistically sucks at passing, defense, finishing at the rim and making catch and shoot jumpers. It’s just Jalen fans making up a conspiracy lol
Cam Whitmore https://www.espn.com/nba/player/_/id/5105592/cam-whitmore 44.4% FG and 35.5% 3pt Jalen Green https://www.espn.com/nba/player/_/id/4437244/jalen-green 42.3% FG and 35.4% 3pt I mean Cam outshot Jalen in limited minutes - he is better than Jalen and isn't cowering in the corner backing down like a wuss like Jalen does....... Chapter 1 - Cam is better than Jalen...... DD
People call Cam a ball hog, yet Jalen took more shots per minute than Cam.....and shot it worse.... DD
Cam jumped from 10th in total minutes his rookie year (really would have been 11th with Tari not missing the season) to 8th this year, over everyone outside of the starters and top 7. I would say if he improves his passing and consistency and all around play (motor, consistent focus on defense, off ball play/cutting etc), as well as primarily focused on team first outcomes I think we can see more burn. There were unique circumstances in his three starts, and the team lost all three and was blown out a couple times, but the next time he starts I'd like to see his numbers translate into team wins and impact. I'd also like to see him impact the game when he's not scoring well, for example high rebounding, a dominant defensive game or high assists on an off night. I'm a little lower on Jalen now until things change, so I would like to see what we have in him in coming seasons. Keep a good team first attitude and most importantly, improve your skill set for impact resulting in wins.
No no I’m sure Cam Whitmore will beat him out for minutes without playing defense, passing the ball, making catch and shoot shots or finishing at the rim. When you diss Jalen, you’re dissing a guy who Cam Whitmore couldn’t steal 1 minute from. So feel free to drag Jalen through the mud, he’s still way ahead of Cam in the eyes of a coach who values toughness. Think about that for a second. Is Udoka in on the conspiracy too? Hahaha
