That's the problem with Dubon as an everyday player, he is one of the streakiest of streaky players In the end he is gonna be the .650-.670 OPS player that he has always been The guy makes contact and is solid for a utility role, but we need better as an everyday 2B
It's always gonna seem less to us fans We tend to remember how often we fail in those situations the most
It also seems less because we’ve struggled to score and it’s because this team lacks power. We are 20th in HR and 26th in 2B. If you lack power like that, you better have speed to make up for it…but we are 28th in SB. When you are relying on stringing a bunch of singles together without taking extra bases to get your runs, it’s tough to score and it’s especially frustrating when we fail with RISP.
Agree with most of this We are middle of the pack in runs scored too though, 7th in the AL which is 15 teams Was just saying we aren't awful like many would make us out to be I apologize for being somewhat optimistic
In our 7 1-run losses, the Stros are 9-46 with RISP (and 4-13 of that came in the 7-6 walkoff loss to Seattle where the pen gave up 7 runs in the 8/9th innings) In the 5 2-run losses, they're 5-30 (with 4-8 of those coming in a 7-5 loss to KC)
Yeah, not surprising since that’s what we are relying on to score. We aren’t getting the big 3 run bombs so that you can then go 1 for your next 6 with RISP in the game and still win.
That's 10 losses where they hit .109 (6-55) with RISP...win just half of those games and look at where the standings would be. Think of that the next time someone says winning close games is "luck"
Gordon just cannot keep the ball out of the middle of the plate. If he can't do that, he has no business in MLB.
