    Rocker considering retirement

ATLANTA (CNNSI.com) –- Beleaguered Atlanta Braves reliever John Rocker may not report to the minors at all, but instead may consider retiring from baseball altogether.

In an interview with Atlanta radio station WKLS on Wednesday, Rocker said, "I don’t know if I’m even going down or not. I’m still pretty chapped about the whole situation.

"[I'm] just not wanting to play anymore. Just shut it down."

Rocker said he had a number of career options he could pursue.

"There’s plenty of things I can do besides deal with the headaches of this garbage every single day," Rocker said. "I’d be a stock broker probably. There’s something to be said for having a job that’s not just a complete headache."

Rocker was assigned to Class AAA Richmond on Monday and still has until Thursday to report to the team. The demotion came one day after Rocker had a heated confrontation with Sports Illustrated reporter Jeff Pearlman, who wrote the article last year in which the reliever made disparaging remarks about minorities, gays and foreigners. Rocker was fined a reported $5,000 by the Braves for that confrontation.

After being suspended for the first two weeks of the season because of those remarks in SI, Rocker has struggled at times, walking 25 batters in 18 1/3 innings. For the season, Rocker has 10 saves and a 3.93 ERA.

Cheaters never win. Unless you play for LA that is.

If 10 saves and a 3.93 ERA earns you a trip to the minors then why isn't Wagner back in pony league?

I am a staunch Rocker opponent, but it doesn't seem like the Braves are being straight forward with him. I still think they should've traded him to Japan after the SI incident.

Richmond or Japan? Ummm...Rocker hates foriegners, so why would he play in Japan and why would they want him? Seems to me that Rocker should have moved on, and not brought more attention to himself.

    Smokey,

That's my point. Trade him to Japan to punish him.
