I think he is better than Cooper Flagg. Egor will end up being the best player in this draft. I have him currently projected to go number 8 to Brooklyn.
I agree that when the team was the #2 seed, we were top-heavy and needed to make a move. That's why I've been so critical of Stone for not making a move at the trade deadline, and just standing pat to see what this roster could actually do. We all know that this roster and scheme are tantalizingly close to being competitive. Still, the flaws are too severe to avoid a first-round exit, including issues with shooting, offensive scheme, point guard play, overreliance on rebounding and defense, and a poor to non-functional transition offense. Here's the problem as I see it: now that the front office waited and we aren't the #2 seed, now that we're rolling into the next season with no record or seeding advantage--when we squandered the chance to move this #10 pick, consolidate resources and get better--now what you do? I'm trying to be more of a realist of what Stone will probably do and not do with this draft pick. It's a little late, but we should consolidate the roster and address some of the myriad issues listed above. Stone has been so risk-averse, I can't see him chasing stars. Trading the #10 for future picks might be possible, but teams may be increasingly stingy about trading picks for picks. Stone will likely take the perceived BPA at #10, bring back FVV on slightly better financial terms, and hope for improvement from younger players. This isn't a terrible draft, and it's a gift that Phoenix mismanaged their team so badly that we reached #10. I can see Stone happily pocketing this pick. Demin looks like one of the best case scenarios.
Am I the only one who thinks Egor could end up better than Cooper? He is a better shooter than Amen was coming out of school and best passing 6’9” point guard since Magic Johnson. Hope we keep pick and hope he falls to 10. He absolutely tore it up at the combine, so unfortunately he’s moved up to projected 8th pick.
Yes, you are the only one. Cooper is an all time level prospect. Egor could end up being better, but no one thinks it’s likely
Feels like he's a better shooter but not the better player. CMB looks like a 6'8" Tate. It may be agonizing to watch sometimes but our card is defense. If you want to be a defensive team you need 6 guys to make it healthy through the year. Brooks, Smith, Eason, Murray-Boyles, Tate, Williams is that crew. We need guards to shoot better. Every single one of them.
He did well at the combine and as some have said he injured his knee in December and was shooting 57 FG% and 44 3PT% at five per game volume in seven games before that according to his splits. In Madrid he had an excellent three point season and a poor one as well. I didn't like some of his film at all at first and thought he was a long term project, but if he wasn't truly 100 percent and now has torched the combine I might be willing to take a gamble if he's BPA. Look at his shooting mechanics at the NBA combine everyone was raving about, the three point shooting happens around the 2 minute mark. He might truly be a sleeper or even get drafted earlier than his projection.
I doubt he will be taken in the top 9. If Rockets want him he will be there at 10. Passing is special, height is special, but concerns on shooting and athleticism. I would be ok with Demin. Height is might.
Forget all about Alexey Shved. Ya'll remember that clip? Change your face. Be happy. Enjoy. Thats deep, man.
It's a good question, I would have to dive deeper in to film and info to decide. Jakučionis is mocked a little higher but it's not a large gap, if Egor really was playing less than 100% with a bone contusion affecting his knee those numbers may be deceptive. Both aren't elite athletes but one is 6'9 and Egor is a better passer, Jak has a higher turnovers and has bad shot selection at times (as does Egor sometimes) but is better getting and creating/converting at the free throw line. His production and numbers are better but again that may not be the full story once they hit the league. I do like Jak's motor on defense, his comps are Austin Reeves/Pods and Egor's are Giddey. As of right now, and this may change, I would have Jakučionis higher over Egor, and I'd likely take Kon if he drops over both. He might be gone at 10 likely though.
He has some ball handling skills unlike Carter Bryant. I have him slightly ahead of Bryant and Noa E.
