Do you mind linking that for me. I'm guessing there was some misunderstanding.

In their view, it's not a park that belongs to all Americans for perpetuity. It's undeveloped real estate.

The US created the world model for national parks. As to their importance, many have spoken on it:

"National parks are the best idea we ever had. Absolutely American, absolutely democratic, they reflect us at our best rather than our worst." --Wallace Stegner

“Whatever the cost, however financed, the benefits for park visitors in health and happiness--virtues unknown to statisticians--would be immeasurable.” -- Edward Abbey

"One touch of nature makes the whole world kin." -- William Shakespeare

"I like to take walks in the park by myself, where no one can bother me and I can think." -- Magic Johnson

"The establishment of the National Park Service is justified by considerations of good administration, of the value of natural beauty as a National asset, and of the effectiveness of outdoor life and recreation in the production of good citizenship." --Theodore Roosevelt

"It is the will of the nation as embodied in the act of Congress [in setting aside the Yosemite government reservation in 1864] that this scenery shall never be private property, but that like certain defensive points upon our coast it shall be solely for public purposes. Two classes of considerations may be assumed to have influenced the action of Congress. The first and less important is the direct and obvious pecuniary advantage which comes to a commonwealth from the fact that it possesses objects which cannot be taken out of its domain, that are attractive to travellers and the enjoyment of which is open to all. A more important class of considerations, however, remains to be stated. These are considerations of a political duty of grave importance to which seldom if ever before has proper respect been paid by any government in the world but the grounds of which rest on the same eternal base of equity and benevolence with all other duties of republican government. It is the main duty of government, if it is not the sole duty of government, to provide means of protection for all its citizens in the pursuit of happiness against all the obstacles, otherwise insurmountable, which the selfishness of individuals or combinations of individuals is liable to interpose to that pursuit." --Frederick Law Olmstead

"National parks and reserves are an integral aspect of the intelligent use of natural resources. It is the course of wisdom to set aside an ample portion of our natural resources as national parks and reserves, thus ensuring that future generations may know the majesty of the earth as we know it today." -- John F. Kennedy

"It is one great purpose of the park to supply to the hundreds of thousands of tired workers, who have no opportunity to spend their summers in the country. A specimen of God's handiwork that shall be to them, inexpensively, what a month or two in the White Mountain or the Adirondacks is, at great cost, to those in easier circumstances." -- Frederick Law Olmsted

"Park service today exemplifies one of the highest traditions of public service." -- Stewart Udall

"The scenic ideals that surround even our national parks are carriers of a nostalgia for heavenly bliss and eternal calmness." -- Robert Smithson

Yeah, it's a different way of thinking, that's for sure. My guess is that's a couple types.

    Type 1
Those who could care less about the outdoors, and would rather play video games or go to a movie before spending time exploring nature, camping, hiking, fishing, mountain climbing, photographing nature, or seeing America's natural wonders and beauty.

    Type 2
A damn waste of land we billionaires want to privatize and develop for their own gains, whether it's some high dollar resort or real estate development, adventure park, or other business venture. There's also the billionaires who want to make more money drilling, mining, fracking, and spewing toxic waste on that land.

The scary part, is Trump belongs to this second group, and wouldn't hesitate to please the dirty hands of the sleazy billionaires that feed him money or personal and business favors. Another scary scenario is Trump and his billionaires in charge letting the parks suffer with reduced staffing, then say privatizing them will be best, and drop federal aid all together, or slowly start carving out bits and pieces here and there reducing the size of the parks.

Funny how they don't care, when they are not going to get any benefit from it......National parks are amazing and they are for the entire populace, we don't need to sell them to developers or foreign countries......all this grifting going on is going to create a lot more Luigis....

Yes, if you can't extract from it or build on it, it's worthless
