What are some hats you guys own that’s not your fav sports teams? I wear a Pirates hat often, only because my name starts with a P haha. I could never rock a Yankees or Dodgers hat.
Even though I don't wear hats I did buy two Superbowl hats for souvenirs when I was stationed in San Diego. It was after the Broncos and Packers played in a Superbowl there. I loved the Broncos then, and they were my team after the Oilers left Houston. I had a lot of their players on my fantasy football team too. I sure as hell wasn't gonna root for the Titans. But, once we got the Texans I was back to Houston as my team.
What style/era of Pirate hat? The Willie Stargell 70's classic, I hope? Personally, all I've got that I wear is Texans/Astros/Horns/Cougars, have never found a good Rockets hat. I'm sure there's some other random stuff in the closet. eta: I do have a box with one of every hat I wore on every team from t-ball through high school.
None. Why? Most of the people I interact with that wear hats of teams they are not fans of are gangbangers. Lots of Norteños with Nebraska hats. Lots of Sureños in Michigan hats (Sureños are connected to the Mexican Mafia prison gang, and their color is blue). None of them care about those teams.
The only one I have is a Broncos Super Bowl 50 beanie. I’ve lived in Denver for 15+ years and bought one in the moment. Other than that, would never buy another team’s hat
None anymore. Used to wear a Saints cap, after the Oilers left. I was trying to find another football team to like and tried the Saints and the Steelers, but nothing would stick and I just stopped watching football instead. Had a Yankees cap, but didn't like to wear it. And, a White Sox, but I was living in Chicago at the time.
I have a White Sox and a STL Cardinal Corduroy hat. My friends laugh when I wear them because they are so use to the H. But I had these teams hats growing up so I bought them again. I also have a Seattle Supersonic shirt that I wear quite a bit.
I like to pickup a baseball cap local to whatever town I am visiting, including minor league teams. One of my favorite baseball caps is one I picked up from a St. Paul Saints game.
I buy a souvenir cap if I go to a game in another city, too. I also got a Montreal Expos hat when I visited there a few years ago.
Back in college I had a Cubs hat because I saw Billy Crystal, John Candy and of course my spirit animal Clark Griswald wearing them in my favorite movies, so I thought they were cool. This was back during the Harry Carey days before they put lights in Wrigley and all the games were on WGN during the day. Cubs just had an awesome mystique and I wanted to be part of it while still being an Astros fan, if that was possible. But now, it's Astros/Rockets/Texans/Bearkats only. Wouldn't even think of wearing anything else.
I only have hats from the Houston teams, including a stolen Houston team, the Oilers. That last cap is sort of beat up from a lot of use.
