With apologies to everyone here, I couldn't let post #10,000 go by unnoticed: 'Twas the night before the season, when all through the gym Not a creature was stirring, not even the rims; The Nike’s were hung in the lockers with care, In hopes that McGrady soon would be there; The buyers were lined up all straight in a row, While visions of season tickets made their hearts glow; And mamma in her Yao jersey, and I in my hat, Had just settled down for some play by play chat, When out on the court there arose such a clatter, I sprang to the suites to see what was the matter. Away to the upper deck I flew like a flash, Tore thru the doors and ran in a dash. The lights on the scoreboard above the newly waxed floor Gave the lustre of mid-day I’d never seen before, When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a basketball team, and twenty girls to cheer, With a little old coach, so sullen and grumpy, I knew in a moment it must be Van Gundy. More rapid than eagles his players they came, And he yelled, and screamed, and cursed them by name; "Now, Jackson, now, Yao! now, Howard and Nachbar! Come on, Mo Taylor, get away from the snackbar! ”To the top of the bench! to the top of the key! Now offense, now defense, another turnover I see!" And then, in the Toyota Center, I heard on the court The posing and thrash talking of each Rocket cohort. As I clutched the railing , and was cheering to below, Down on the court, teamwork began to show. They was dressed all in white, from their shorts to their tops, And a dagger of a logo that would scare even cops; A rack full of balls they shot at the nets, The more that go in, the better they get. Their passes -- how crisp! Their offense had reason! The new scorer gave us hope for the season! His sleepy eyes and his body so tall, Belied his passion that gives excitement to all. The Chinese center held firm to the post And called for the ball, he wanted it the most. His new teammate gladly took a back seat, Except when we play the Miami Heat. They were tall and fast, and eager to play And I cheered when I saw them, I love the NBA! A sound of a buzzer and up goes the tip, Soon gave me to know this new team was hip; They talked little trash, but went straight to work, And filled all the nets; even the refs were not jerks, And laying the ball gently to the backboard, Lots of victories this team could hoard; They played and they played, then the ref gave a whistle, And off the court they flew like a missile. But I heard them exclaim to all the crowds in, "Let’s Go Rockets, and Happy Ten Thousand!"
Awesome...congrats. Like many here, I've had the pleasure of meeting Behad. Great guy, great family, and most importantly, great brisket!
meh....I liked the 3K one much better. congrats to the boards resident bbq man on managing to burden us down with 10000 posts of dubious content while still managing to retain some semblance of a life..... Does this mean first round is on the poster with the highest post count Tues?
I'm still debating...I wanna watch all the results come in, but it's the first game of the year and I haven't seen you fools since my dominating performance at the pick-up game. I think we'll be there.
actually....who has the highest count? Rm or heyp? anyway....you gotta make it...Behad already said that he will be so busy he wont make many of these this year..and since you are talking moving out of state... it becomes a moral imperative for you to attend opening night at Live with the rest of us maniacs.. come on man..you know you want to...
I don't care what it says now, but Keeley had the highest when I reached 20k, so he buys the first round. Since he's in Chicago, I guess we all buy our own. I'll be there.
