Telling companies to eat cost . . .. i by far one of the most UNCAPITALISTIC things he has done
This is where I think the capitalists start to get bothered
The #1 sin in America is cutting into profits. . . it cannot be violated
You can be a pedophile, but not to make maximum profits . . . is a bridge too far in America

Trump's just a narcissistic and power hungry blowhard, and loves making threats, bullying others, or doing crap that's not even legal to enforce. The real question is how far will his spineless, greedy, crooked, and power hungry loyalists let him go in his attempt to become more of an authoritarian or dictator.

On May 6 he threatened a 100% tariff on Mattel after they said they'd have to raise prices. Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz said Trump’s tariffs won’t bring toy manufacturing to America, because toys couldn’t be manufactured in America and still be sold at affordable prices.

Trump fired back from the Oval Office, threatening the company and its CEO.

“We’ll put a 100% tariff on his toys, and he won’t sell one toy in the United States, and that’s their biggest market,” Trump said. “I wouldn’t wanna have him as an executive too long.”

Trump's such a nasty ass*ole. He really is.

Still hard to believe you voted for him the first round Deb, I kinda get it though. I just don't see many people willing to admit their mistake and go completely against the man. If more people would have we'd be in a better place as a country.

I wasn't a fan of either candidate so just stuck with Republican. Yeah, big mistake that was, but at least I'm not ashamed I make mistakes, and will admit I'm not perfect. At least I learn from my mistakes though. :p

GM to stop exporting vehicles from US to China, company says

    By Reuters
May 19, 20257:35 PM EDT Updated 5 hours ago

DETROIT, May 19 (Reuters) - General Motors <GM.N> late last week informed employees and dealers for its China export business it would stop shipping vehicles to China from the United States, the company said.
The move comes as the United States and China continue discussions on tariffs and other trade issues.

GM imported vehicles to China from the United States through its Durant Guild premium import business, which represented less than 0.1% of the volume it sells in China, according to a company spokesperson.

"Due to significant changes to economic conditions, we have decided to restructure The Durant Guild and correspondingly optimize GM China’s operations," the spokesperson said in a statement.

I have a soft spot for Fetterman because he is anti-establishment to the extent that he isn't afraid to deviate from Chuck and Nancy and the Obama holdovers and there are not a lot of Democrats doing that, and that is what is necessary - as the old guard is out of touch with the country in 2025.

As for Fetterman - he has flaws and he has said and done things I disagree with, and he could fade into the night -- but he has still had to deal with those in the democratic establishment attempting to slander him, and AOC has as well.

**** Walmart and their exploitative practices - which are Unamerican.

Having said that - if Trump wants to complain about the profits of Walmart, perhaps he should look at his budget - which, regardless of what he says, is ultimately one of the few things he makes sure does get done.... and he cuts benefits for the working and middle class and gives huge tax cuts to the ultra-wealthy.

If Trump really gave a **** about the "common man" or working class like he claims - like the flawed Andrew Jackson did - he would not be pushing increased military spending and increasing the budget with massive tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.

I have a soft spot for him to, and I didn't mind him going to talk to trump after he was inaugurated, its the right thing to do, you don't have to like someone to work with them. Some of the stories I hear are worrisome and his staffers who seem to be jumping ship make me go hmmmmmmmm

I find it unbelievable that smart conservatives like you support the destructive tariffs president who complains when his destructive Tariffs do what they're supposed to do, force Walmart to raise import prices.

How can you support this dumb ****?

THE TARIFFS ARE SUPPOSED TO RAISE IMPORT PRICES

Walmart is a great store with great prices and happy employees. I've known several

A majority of US companies say they will have to raise their prices to accommodate Donald Trump’s tariffs in the US, according to a new report.

More than half (54%) of the US companies surveyed by insurance company Allianz said they will have to raise prices to accommodate the cost of the tariffs. Of the 4,500 companies across nine countries, including the US, UK and China, surveyed by Allianz only 22% said they can absorb the increased costs.

The unpredictability of US trade policy has also dented exporters’ confidence. The survey found 42% of exporting companies now anticipate turnover to decline between -2% and -10% over the next 12 months, compared to fewer than 5% before 2 April “liberation day” – when Trump unveiled his tariff policy.

Trump has insisted that tariffs will make America “very wealthy again”, though it appears that American companies and consumers are simply expecting to pay higher prices as the tariffs settle into place. In April, consumer expectations of inflation reached their highest point since 1981, according to the University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research.

Instead of immediately raising prices, which could deter customers, many companies have spent months trying to get ahead of Trump’s tariffs by stockpiling goods to temporarily circumvent them.

Nearly eight out of 10 American companies said that they frontloaded shipments to China before Trump announced his tariffs, with 25% saying they had started to front-load before the November 2024 election.

Inflation data from April showed that US price increases remained roughly level for the month. Economists say that it will take a while for tariff-related price increases to show up in data and companies have started to say they will pass some of the cost of tariffs onto consumers.

“Given the magnitude of the tariffs, even at the reduced levels announced this week, we aren’t able to absorb all the pressure,” Doug McMillon, Walmart’s CEO, said in an earnings call last week. “The higher tariffs will result in higher prices.”

Toymaker Mattel also said that it would have to raise prices and that it would continue to manufacture its products outside of the US, “where [it] can be more efficient and more productive”, the company’s CEO, Ynon Kreiz, told CNBC earlier this month.

The majority of companies (60%) in the report said they expect the tariffs to have a negative impact on their business, with less than half saying they expect positive export growth this year, down from 80% who had said the same at the beginning of the year.

While many companies are holding out on price increases, relying on stockpiled inventory and hoping trade deals will be reached soon, companies will have to raise prices in the summer if a trade war continues.

“Monthly business surveys … do indicate that companies will eventually pass on most of the tariff increases by the summer,” said Maxime Darmet, a senior economist at Allianz Trade.

he touted himself as a progressive when he was running against Dr. Oz, but he’s basically a mentally unstable centrist Dem/diet MAGA politician who dresses like he’s begging for change offering to wash windows at a red light

yeah, he gets an anti-establishment label because he goes against the grain by dressing homeless and doing his “MAGA has a point” schtick…he’s on his Tulsi Gabbard arc (people forget she was a Bernie Bro and endorsed him back in 2016)

I don't support Trump or his tariffs. I voted for Trump fewer times than @deb4rockets. I just think he has freedom of speech and is allowed to say things I disagree with.
