Not sure on this. At least it isn't grotesque like a lot of trade ideas I see: "Jabari + Sengun + Eason + #10 + Cam + a box of Krispy Kremes + b.j. from my sister" etc.

But there'd be a hole in the power forward spot. Unless we play small (Brooks/Amen) and/or big (Sengun-Kiwi action).

One of the more reasonable trade proposals I’ve ever seen from Simmons. Actually meets the needs of both teams very well. Boston needs to reduce duplicative stars and break up their salary commitments. They need youth. Houston needs to consolidate their young role players into another true star.

Jaylen and Holiday would address Houston’s weaknesses without taking away from the team’s strengths.

Jrue's contract is gross. He's 35 and is making $100m+ the next three seasons, for a guy who gives you 11/4/4 on declining percentages.

Now Derrick White in his place, that's a trade that might make sense. Sub Whitmore in there for Jabari or Tari and I'd be sold.

 

I don’t think Boston wants to give up Derrick White.

Their best player is about to miss the entire season and they have a massive salary problem they need to retool around. Looks like they're moving Brown, their 2nd best player. I don't think they should hold on to a 30 year old role player, even if he's the best role player in the NBA. It would make sense to sell high on him in their retooling.

 

If White is part of the trade then at least 2 of the Suns/Nets/Mavs picks/swaps are going over to Boston. Jaylen Brown's market may not be big given his big contract, but White can be shopped around the league for high value and don't need to be part of a salary dump like Holiday.

That said, no way the Rockets can make any iteration of this trade work without having a landing spot for Jalen Green. Not unless Tilman is willing to pay a lot of tax money.

 

Its because Brown and Holiday are overpaid. Going to be making a combined 98 million in 2028 when Jrue is 37
