That is EXTREMELY uncalled for. I definitely don’t think sabonis is better than those guys though in terms of impact on winning.
I’d absolutely do this. Makes a ton of sense for both sides — Boston gets huge eventual cap relief, two solid prospects, and a solid pick. We get a #1 scorer and a fantastic defensive guard. Holiday / Green / Brown / Amen / Sengun with Brooks as a sixth man. That’s a fun team.
I do like the trade @treyk3 proposed, but I can def see the push back from a salary perspective. We should be fine the first year, but with Amen likely getting the max and Bari signing to a Brooks' type contract, we'd be a 2nd apron team really quick unless if we trade Green,... which wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
That's ridiculously favored for the Rockets, right? I'd do it, but I have some concerns about Jaylen's recent injury. That trade also consolidates and opens up playing time. Win.
Statistically and for what the Rockets need Sabonis is a better offensive player than Sengun. I think Sengun is the better player if he develops a 3 pointer and he is better defensively at perimeter defense. What makes this feasible and maybe even desirable is if we trade for Giannis without giving up Sengun. Amen, Giannis and Sengun will not work offensively. Amen, Giannis, Lavine, Jabari, and Sabonis will be tremendous. In terms of the contract it is just a standard max and Sengun’s next contract will far exceed his. Right now Sabaonis’ contract is 10m more than Sengun’s. The two trades are an all-in move to make us championship contenders for 3-5 years depending on Giannis’ long-term contract demands. https://stathead.com/tiny/v2cM5
Here is Brown's contract: Here is Jrue's contract: That's soon to be around $100M of salary committed to two guys per year, one of whom I'd argue is not a true #1, and one who will be age 37 at the end of his deal. On the surface it seems to favor the Rockets because we clearly get better and Boston clearly gets worse. You can't ignore the financial aspect though. Also, Jabari in particular still has a lot of upside. He will almost certainly never be as good as Brown, but he might squeak into an all-star game or two at his peak. Dude is still super young. And then there's #10 and whoever that turns into.
People just massively overrate sabonis because his counting stats look good. Sengun is just so much better right now and in the future the gap will be even more massive. Sabonis can’t shoot at all or defend, and he can’t create any offense unless he has a massive mismatch. There’s reason the kings always suck despite having solid talent around him. If it’s something like sengun for sabonis and 3 firsts, ok you have to look at it but otherwise no way.
Nah, it's merely that my patience for stupidity is appreciably lower than most. It's cute that you set out w/ the stated goal of concocting an idea dumb enough to try and intentionally piss people off. Unfortunately, when the only relevant replies you got were for the stupidity behind the idea it left you probing in the hopes that you may have succeeded. LOL You want to piss Jalen and Alpi fans off? Concoct trade scenarios where the Rockets win each trade and where they aren't losing the best piece in the deal (in your Sac deal that's easily Alpi). See, a good troll understands that anchoring to reality and remaining fact-based is key. When you willingly try to give away $1 for $0.60 no one takes you seriously.
I really don’t get the Sabonis hate. He has owned Sengun when they play. He had better stats in all offensive and overall stats. Why don’t you supply some kind of support for your proclamations? Because you are incapable.
The Q everyone asks about star players is, "Can he be the best player on a Championship team?" It's widely accepted - and was validated by FMVP - that JB was the best player in the Finals. We already have the baseline of a team that can achieve outstanding regular season success. What we're looking for is a series difference maker. He literally was the ultimate one just a year ago. The contract is large. As it should be. But we can't have our cake and it eat too. You aren't going to get "best guy on a Championship team" or "difference in a series guy" unless he's paid at or near the MAX b/c that's just where those players reside. If JB is the best combination of extending the window + keeping the majority of the core/assets then I'd happily take him.
Why do his teams always suck then? He's had solid teammates, fox/derozen/lavine/murray. He is what he is, a solid starter who makes superstar money.
There is absolutely no stupidity in my trades. You are way too emotional to have a decent debate with. I threw the piss off comments in just for laughs. I am serious about the trades and think they have a great deal of merit, because I’m not an only fan, unless it’s Amen. If you read my post history you will find that I like both Jalen and Sengun and would not trade them, unless it makes the team better. I wouldn’t trade Sengun for Sabonis straight up, but if we acquire Giannis then either Sengun or Amen has to go. I’m totally against Amen being traded for anyone in the league. So call me an Amen only fan, but I’m not stupid and have provided stats that prove Sabonis was the better offensive player than Sengun this past year. Sabonis has outplayed Sengun when they meet almost every time and Sabonis is a much better fit with Giannis (I don’t see how that is even debatable).
Sac owned us when they had Fox. Laying entire team performances on one player is really stupid. I guess Phoenix sucked because they had Booker and Durant. Give me a break.
No use having a debate with you, since you say nothing other than I’m right and you’re wrong. You can have the last word if you want. I won’t be responding to more of this drivel.
I guess because i'm in the bay area i see him more so my opinion is gonna be different. I have ZERO interest in going into the playoffs with sabonis on the team.
Owned Sengun? He’s averaged like 17 points when he’s played Sengun. The two have put up nearly identical numbers when facing each other. It’s not just about raw numbers. Sengun, at 22, is just a much more impactful player than Sabonis despite Sabonis being seven years old. Sengun is a far better defender - he posted a 107 defensive rating last season v Sabonis’s 114. Sabonis’s NetRTG was 2.3 v Sengun’s 7.6. And, again, Sabonis is seven years older. At 22, Sabonis averaged 14/9/3.
