Finished. I give it 6.5/10. But, for the record, RT's Tomatometer and Popcornmeter scores are both crazy high at 94%/95%. I have loved a lot of international productions over the years, particularly from Korea & UK, but also Japan, France and Germany. This is the first Latin America series I've actually enjoyed to some degree. IMO, the fact this is an Argentine sci-fi production based on a book by a famous novelist who was "disappeared" during the Dirty War of Augusto Pinochet ~50 years ago has a lot to do with the sensational buzz of this show.
I agree with this rating. Good enough show but not the crazy good ratings it gets. I was more frequently bored than entertained.
I just don't want the season 1 to end on a cliffhanger, as they frequently do between episodes, but so far it's been a banger of a show. 2 episodes left to go.
Yeah, I need to resubscribe to Apple and Netflix and maybe another before I forget all the shows I have on my mental "watchlist". I used to use JustWatch as the site/app to keep track of that stuff, but it totally crapped out on me for reasons I can't explain, is there another good one that serves the same purpose?
eta: I have no idea if this show is good or not yet, but from the pilot I watched late last night it has some potential:
I started it and got through 2 episodes but its like its trying too hard- Its a very, very poor mans Guy Ritchie and the acting seems to be so subpar imo. Pierce does not fit the role of mob boss for my liking and Tom Hardy seems to be a waste of a good big name actor in this. I started Get Shorty the series on Prime, which ran for 3 years on MGM apparently and its checking off a lot of boxes for me. Semi-slow burn, but good.
Those 3 seasons are what hooked me on British crime dramas! The cast and acting are so good; incredible chemistry. Let me know if you continue watching more seasons and if you think they are worth it.
Just watched the first two episodes of Murderbot last night, might be my new favorite show. Absolutely hilarious. I was dealing with insomnia, so I also started watching Will Trent sometime last night or early this morning, got about seven episodes into the first season. It’s actually better than I expected. For some reason, when I saw the commercials, I assumed Trent was British because of the wool three-piece suit, so I had low expectations. But the show feels like a mix between CSI: Miami and Psych but in Georgia, and I’m kind of into it.
On Netflix now: Only a few episodes in but enjoying it. It reminds me a tiny bit of Warrior from HBO in that it's story and set pieces seem better than the overall acting but in good way.
Just finished the second season of The Capture and it was great! S1 was in 2019 when Peacock first launched and was pretty good. S2 went to another level. S3 is expected to release late this year.
