Every team would have interest in Landale. He can be waived and they can save 8 million.

Depends what the market for Grimes is. Sign and trades are typically done at a discounted value. Cam + few SRPs or a Rockets protected first sounds reasonable.

Lots of ifs that would determine if trading for Grimes would be an option; however, we do have the contracts @aelliott and the assets.

The problem will come in on the Houston side. We will need to send out money to match Grimes new salary. The draft picks count as $0 towards the cap in a trade. Assuming that Grimes will get over $20M, Cam only makes $3.5M so we'd have to send something else that Philly would want to keep.

The question is "Would Philly prefer to keep Grimes?".

I don't think we have the contracts. Even if we combined Landale, Aaron Holiday and Cam, we'd still fall short of $20 million.

We'd have to include Jabari to make it work and I wouldn't want to include Jabari. I also don't see why the 76ers would trade Grimes for 3 of our lesser players.

I think Philly was blessed with the number 3 pick and they believe some guys will return from injury and they can compete this coming year. Giannis will likely move West and the Celtics will be down. I think the East is wide open. I believe Morey will think this as well.

Most likely they would use Jalen in a Giannis trade or facilitating trade for any star/superstar....Durant? Booker? Jaylen Brown?

Surely it would not be a straight up Jalen for Grimes swap.

So the loose parts can be flipped for someone like Grimes......also pray that McCain develops because Grimes was a replacement for injured McCain.

6th man of the year. The main objective was to get rid of FVV and pick up a 26 pick that free’s up our ability to trade other picks.
    Amen/Maxey/Reed
    Maxey/Lavine
    Dillon/Tari/Cam
    Jabari/Tari
    Sengun/Adams or other journeyman

Maxey does everything that good Jalen does consistently. Getting rid of FVV frees up our offense to play fast and gives us lots of 3 point shooters to rotate in and out depending on his is hot or what the matchups are. Not sure if Sac values the #10 pick enough to give up the 26 frp though or if Philadelphia is at all interested in giving up Maxey (but I would try).

Your strategy falls down on the Maxey element, there's no way in anybody's hell you're persuading Daryl "Metrics" Morey to trade for Jalen Green. I don't care how many draft picks you think you're sending him, he's never cared about those either.

I agree with you. It’s a pipe dream. I’m trying to figure out anyway to get rid of Ime’s crutch in FVV. Most of my trades are realistic fantasies if reasonable and competent GM’s were in place. Morey is no longer competent. We don’t know yet, if Stone is on the trade front. Philadelphia has no hope for 3 years without more draft picks. Paul George absolutely sunk them and Embid will get injured every year.

You forgot about declining Jock Landale's $8m ..... with cap holds that brings the Rockets cap space to $19.2m

No, it's counted already. Look at the Spotrac link that I posted. There's a line for "Maximum Possible Cap Space". The description given says "all other options, cap holds and exceptions are assumed declined, waived or renounced". That covers Landale.

They should trade Dillon Brooks for Shae and Fred for Brunson while they’re at it.

I think mid $20’s sounds right. Am I crazy to think Morey would consider a sign & trade with Dillon Brooks? It would be nice to trade Dillon out for Grimes if for no other reason than we are deep at the 3 and badly need a consistent shooter at the 2. Whereas Philly looks to be quite deep in the backcourt.

When discussing complex NBA trades it is important to remain based in reality.

Yes, agreed. I was responding to the “trade Jalen for Ant” suggestion, lol.

To be honest, I'm not really clear on Philly's direction. Is Embiid going to be healthy enough to be "the guy"?

Not sure if Morey would prefer Brooks over Grimes. Grimes is also a pretty good defender, both can play physical defense. Brooks had a great year shooting the 3 ball but Grimes is good too. Overall, Grimes is a better overall ofensive player.

If I had to guess, I'd think that Philly would prefer Grimes because he has upside. Brooks is who he is. I don't see him getting that much better.

I hear u. I just think Dillon must have value to contending teams coming off his 40% season. And I would think Philly is going to try and compete because as long as they are tied to the Paul George and Embid contracts they can’t really rebuild. Dillon gives them important wing depth behind Paul George. Anyway, not trying to move Dillon but I do think it’s gonna be hard to give Dillon, Tari, Amen and Cam all the minutes they need next yr if they are all on the roster.

    Too much Grimes talk.
You want to be the team that finds Quentin Grimes, not the team that pays Quentim Grimes a big salary.

    Checkmate Morrey!!
