As a nature lover, this really sickens me. Of course, Trump could care less about nature. Trump is selling out the US’s beloved wilderness During the McCarthy era’s darkest days, public lands came under attack. History now repeats itself – and this may be the last chance to defend what’s ours In May, the administration signaled it would slash the agency’s budget by 40% – the biggest cut in its 109-year history. None of the personnel cuts make good business sense. The National Park Service oversees resources that cost $3.5bn annually to manage, yet generate more than $55bn in revenue. Protecting such a profitable national asset should be a no-brainer. Despite that, conservation workers have been in effect barred from buying new supplies costing more than $1. Already, the National Park Service has about one employee for every 17,000 visitors, said Timothy Whitehouse, the executive director of Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility. “They’re breaking the system,” he said. “They’re traumatizing the workforce.” Many worry about the brain drain that will follow. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news...ay/18/trump-public-lands-conservation-workers
Believe it or not, there are millions of nature lovers around the country, and not just city boy socialites, yacht snobs, or nerds who prefer sitting in front of a video game to taking a hike, camping, fishing, or exploring the outdoors.
He doesn't care. He and his administration have been breaking the law over and over since he took office. Trump has always scoffed at the law when he wants something. They’ve watched democracies fail. They see it happening under Trump. Would-be autocrats often move to eliminate structural checks on their power. They intimidate opposition parties, threaten potential dissenters within their own ranks, and defy the courts. Autocrats punish and bully the news media, protect allies from legal prosecution while targeting political opponents, and purge senior military and government ranks of career staff in favor of loyalists. President Trump has checked all of those boxes, says Larry Diamond, a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution who has spent four decades studying how and why democracies fail. “If we were slipping into an authoritarian situation, step by step, it would pretty much look like what’s happening right now,” he says. https://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Politics/2025/0509/donald-trump-authoritarian-playbook-democracy
86 47 We need to flip a few seats in 2026 and impeach the hell out of him. Seems very appropriate. DD
Just shows how little you know about me. All my vacations are in nature, to escape the hustle and bustle and city life. Whether it's in Alaska, Costa Rica, Ireland, Norway, or anywhere else I'd rather be hiking or chilling in nature off the grid than shopping, partying in crowded venues, or browsing souvenir shops in some tourist town. Hell, I just spent time off the grid in a very small remote lodge in the rainforest for 10 days last month, and did a few cool night hikes in the jungle with a very small group. Large tourist groups and crowded resorts aren't my thing.
You don't have to give any information to trolls, they are just angry and want the rest of the world to be angry too. MAGA is a racist movement - ignore the racists, they have bigger problems of their own. DD
They have a hard time accepting and defending Trump's corruption, quests to destroy democracy, live like a King, and all his horrible policies, so just lash out at those who care about it all instead.
Well I shouldn't know much about you. I think if I did outside of your posts that would be strange. That seems really cool. Props for that. I just don't understand the Trump obsession. Every day it's a new posted article. I don't like Iike him either but I also know that there's nothing that I'm going to do to change it. I get it's a political sub forum on a basketball message board but it doesn't seem like the left polices themselves here. Harris? Newsom? Right there with Trump.
You guys trolling the thread, Trump is president, his decisions are going to be a topic in a political forum. Calling people who disagree with him obsessed is ridiculous
The article posted was pure doom and gloom with absolutely no nuance. Its click bait garbage to anger low iq people. While people care about national parks, its not our biggest issue right now. Not even in the top 50.
you joined a basketball message board less than two years ago in order to complain about people criticizing a politician than you didnt even vote for and then you accuse others of not making it out of the house. thats pretty rich! as for the thread topic, this is what he campaigned on. de-funding the national parks system and selling off public lands to loggers, miners, oil, ect. most people like spaceghost and goatboi dont care because people like them dont place any importance on national parks, forests and monuments. or theyre just going along with anything that triggers the liberals. but despite right wingers mockery of the issue, national park attendance is at record highs so cutting the budget by 40% is pretty insane. just proof that its not only not a priority, but doing this is a deliberate policy. if youre a real "conservative" then you should realize that the national parks service actually turns a profit for the federal government. its a money earner. funding it properly makes it more profitable. im sure there are trump voters out there enjoying our national parks and visiting national monuments. sadly, its clear at this point that most of them will go along with whatever he says. and then you have people like goatboi who didnt even vote, but gets upset when you post news articles that are critical of trump.
