I can say this with a lot of confidence: McCullers will never strike out 10 batters in a game ever again. He will never throw 7+ innings in a game ever again.

I would be thrilled to be wrong.

Sure. I think that’s right. But to be a part of the rotation and “earn his contract I think you need him to be able to go 4-6 ip per start and believe he’s going to give up 3 or less most of the time.
I’ve just spent too much time managing employees that you have to try to come up with workarounds for. It never works and you’d always be best ripping off the band aid and getting rid of them the second you entertain the idea of “well, if we did this, this and this to modify their job maybe it would work out”. It never does.

I agree with you. Watching these 3 starts so far has me wishing he’d just reached a medical retirement settlement to get his money and retire. I obviously understand why both parties are playing it out but it just seems like we are watching an excruciating march toward an inevitable outcome.

Assuming we make the playoffs, is he going to be part of the playoff rotation just because he's Lance McCullers Jr.?

I mean- who else is healthy and how are they pitching? I’d think not if we had a reasonable amount of guys healthy but that’s a big if.

    last 20ish games:

    Dezenzo: .279 .362 .426 .789

    Cam: .246 .348 .404 .752

Both of these dudes need to be in the lineup every day

    eta: Altuve last 20 games: .177 .244 .266 .510

Tell Espada. That big dummy is the problem with that.

The Altuve LF Experience is blocking 1 of those 2 guys from playing every day

Agreed and he shouldn't be playing 2B regularly either. How many more years are left on his contract. It looks like he's at the beginning of the he's washed stage of his career.

I said it from the start of the season. Altuve should have stayed at 2nd base and we start our mini re-build with Dizenzo and Cam now and still a chance at the World Series given our pitching. Altuve is a huge problem going forward. It is sacrilege to bench him and he will be taking a a valuable position the rest of his career and his numbers will continue to deteriate. If Dizenzo and Cam work out, I guess we just live with Altuve in the 9 hole and hope Myers or a replacement is good enough to make our lineup 8 deep.

Not really with Yordan out. One of them (or Altuve) could dh. they absolutely should have used yordans time on the shelf to play those 2 every single day. If they still deserve to play every day when Yordans back then you have to go to 2B with Altuve.

I've never seen a 6'5" 2Bman, and I think it would be a disaster, but I'd like to see Dezenso there for a game or two, just for ***** and giggles

David Hensley was fine at 2B at 6’6”. He just couldn’t hit.

He is in the 1st year of a 5 year deal

His decline actually started last year and it wasn't all that subtle. Way more strikeouts and his OPS dropped over 100 points. He was still pretty good but the signs were definitely there.

I still think he will get red hot at some point but when and for how long?

But they won't do that to Altuve.

They won't say " I know how much you like it, how energized you have been, and how hard you have worked learning LF. Sorry, we need to play this rookie, go back to 2b "

I'm not saying that would be wrong, just that it won't happen.

Altuve IS an OF now. Period. They are committed and Jose is committed. He may play 25-30% of the time at 2b, but they won't move him back to get another player PAs. That needs to happen by that player playing 2b, not Altuve.

    Since Yordan got hurt:

    DZ: 11 games
    Cam: 8 games

    Out of 13 games

8 out of 13 is ass my dude. That’s way closer to half time than full time.

I'm aware. I don't get the lineup randomness.

DZ/Jake/Cam is your OF, every day
