Terrible HALL OF FAME manager. You don't win 2000+ games being a shitty manager. I don't care how much talent you think he had.
But it wasn't about baseball for you. If you want to have an honest conversation about that then fair. He was awful here. I don't care about the Padres record. You're being deliberate dishonest.
I really hate that we are still talking about this. Fans think Maldy was awful here. Pitchers thought Maldy was great. People inside the Astro organization thought He was great. The funny thing is that all of that was at the same time. It's almost like fans don't understand that most of the things a catcher does can't be judged by stats/metrics and have nothing to do with what they can see. And FTR as a fan, I wanted Diaz and am still happy they let Maldy walk. But I do not think I know better than the actual professionsls.
Pitchers did not think he was great. That’s folklore Our gm made a trade attempting to bench him we did have fans that liked Maldy. Casual fans and Dusty fans.
I really dislike Espada and want hi. Fired but that’s only because I think of him as a Hispanic. if he’d have worked out to not be a big dummy he’d be honorary white for me. I also hated Jimy Williams and Terry Collins and that title and complete abject moron from 2012 and 2013 that was converted football coach and didn’t know the actual rule book, so maybe I just hate irritating and shitty managers.
