This article really breaks down Walker's hitting metrics in depth, from power, decision making, pull rate, chase rate and more. It's a great analysis, with both optimism and concerns about the level of offensive production that Walker will be able to produce moving forward. Yea, I agree. I am not ready to write him off, but he cannot bat 4th. What a wasted effort last night, Hunter is becoming an Ace right before our eyes, Pena is having an All-Star year, Jake is raking, and all is being wasted by an ineffective offense when its crunch time. This team needs a kick in the rear,,,,,Espada needs to go, this team is good, but we can't seem to get out of our own way and we are stuck as a .500 team.
Astros starting 1B, LF, and DH have an average of 637 OPS. That is completely unacceptable and no team with that level of offense across those 3 positions can be expected to be competitive for any kind of championship. Why in the blue **** did the Astros allow themselves to give a 34 year old 1B a fat 3 year contract?!?!?! ****!
So numbnuts is going with an 6 man rotation and pushing Framber to Monday instead of a very important start vs our heated rival Sunday. Yeah we got so many quality starters we can afford to push Framber to Monday. Wait til we get swept in this series and we find ourselves effectively looking at the end of our season.
I actually agree with the 6 man rotation. Now, it can be argued that you keep Framber on the 5 man schedule and adjust others, but the concept is sound. SP are more vulnerable to injury yet more expendive/valuable than ever before. Because of this I expect this to become the norm across MLB moving forward. Hopefully it results in more 6+ IP starts. In addition, we have seen pitchers fatigued and ineffective in September and in the post season. The only issue I see with this is having 1 fewer bullpen arm but the quality depth is currently very good.
Obviously, below average production is not good anywhere, but positions only matter due to the skillet involved and potential of the options to fill those roles. If a team has C, CF, and SS with a cumulative .800 OPS that would make up for that. That's why Correa and Springer were so beneficial on this team. They allowed the team to carry players like Yuli and Reddick who were beneficial to the team in other ways like good defense and chemistry.
I have no idea why Espada continually bats Walker 4th...how many damn scoring opportunities have died when he was up to bat? All Espada does is head scratching moves. Is it too much to ask to just have somebody smart in the dugout?
I get what you are saying but who else you going to put there right now. He won't be batting 4th once Yordan is back in September. There is no one deserving of the 4 spot on this roster right now except Pena but then you lose your lead-off hitter. This current lineup has the strength of an 80 year old penis.
I’d like to see Smith or Dezenzo hit 2nd for awhile to see if hitting in front of Alvarez gives them a boost; also their speed on the bases might help Yordan. SS Pena RF Smith/Dezenzo DH Alvarez 3B Paredes LF Altuve 1B Walker C Diaz CF Meyers 2B Rodgers
Pena, Paredes, Altuve, Alvarez, Meyers, Diaz, Walker, Smith/Dezenzo, McCormick/Dubon/Rodgers is a lineup I’d pay attention to.
