I like that. It could stop teams from resting players the last couple weeks too. That being said, then what point would it be to even have divisions, where you play certain teams twice, but winning the division doesn't give you an advantage? I guess it still would, if you made the playoffs with a crappier record than a team who didn't make the playoffs. Might as well just have 2 conferences, playing nobody twice, and playing more opponents within your conference throughout the year, with the best teams going to the playoffs. Divisions, and division rivalry will probably always be part of the NFL, MLB, and NBA though.
He just doesn't want to be in OTAs and all that other training stuff. He will be ready by training camp.
It would make divisions meaningless. It's not like schedules are balanced or anything which would make overall records more meaningful than division records.
