    CNN —
If you thought President Donald Trump’s trade war was over, he has some news for you: Tariffs are going up again.

At the conclusion of his Middle East trip Friday, Trump acknowledged that trade negotiationsare progressing too slowly to accommodate every country that wants to strike a new trade deal with the United States. So Trump said he’d give other countries a few more weeks, and then Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick would simply tell America’s trading partners what their new tariffs are.

“We have, at the same time, 150 countries that want to make a deal, but you’re not able to see that many countries,” Trump said during a business roundtable in Abu Dhabi Friday. “So at a certain point, over the next two to three weeks, I think Scott and Howard will be sending letters out, essentially telling people – we’ll be very fair – but we’ll be telling people what they’ll be paying to do business in the United State

I think he can say whatever he wants (just as you can or I can). If there were any teeth to the suggestion (like some sort of legislation or executive action targeting them) I would oppose it, because that would be big government. It isn't really that complicated. Trump says, "Eat the tariffs." WalMart says, "LOL, no." and raises prices to cover the cost of the tariffs.

LOL you dont think there's any teeth to what the President says? You dont think corporations take notice when a President tells them to do something? Are you really comparing what we (private citizens) do in relation to the President? This is the same guy who demanded a FCC investigation into CBS cuz he didn't like their interview.

I always knew you were a hack but you sincerely exposed yourself. If this was a democratic president telling corporations to do something you'd be having a brain aneurysm calling them a socialist

No, I don't think there are any teeth in Trump's demand that WalMart eat the tariffs. We shall see. I expect them to operate exactly as they would had he not made the statement. The FCC investigation into CBS was started under Biden based on a complaint from the Center for American Rights. Biden's FCC chair dismissed it on her way out the door and it was reinstated by the new FCC chair. Trump is also suing based on the same facts. I think the investigation is silly and most experts seem to agree that it isn't going to result in any sanctions.
Democrats say stuff I disagree with all the time, to corporations, to citizens, to foreigners. I don't really care unless it is turned into law or policy. When Obama says people didn't build their own companies, "someone else made that happen" he was free to express that opinion. If he then signed legislation transferring ownership of shares to the other people who allegedly made it happen, that would be a big problem. Your issue seems to be that freedom of speech only applies to people who you want to have it. That isn't how freedom of speech works. I don't agree with Trumps statement, but I still think he is free to make it, just like everyone else. That is how freedom of speech works.

Yup. It's crazy MAGA thought these stupid tariffs were a good idea so it's a good reminder what real people actually think about them and how they will effect their pocketbooks. Still have tariffs in place with no real deals with our major trading partners.

The Stable Genius still believes that China in some fashion pays the tariffs. How else would China eat the tariffs?

Trump really has only one card to play ... Middle School Bully. Bullying Walmart to pay for his stupid tariffs aint going to happen. Any day now, Trump will have to say how "un-America" Walmart is, how "Trump hating" Walmart is, how all of the death threats Walmart will be getting are from Antifa and not from his hardcore MAGA supporters, etc.

    Almost double in price
    SMH

Republicans generally don't believe in such a thing as price gouging
They believe that anyone can charge as much as they can . . .. if the public will buy it
They don't seem to have much against monopolies either

so . . . The spin on this will be interesting

Trump is saying that these companies should eat the cost of the tariffs instead of raising prices…this after telling us for months that it’s actually the importing country that pays the tariff while his dumbass base ate it up
