So regardless if it’s rigged or not, one certified way of making it interesting and at the time less likely to be rigged is simple: have the ping pong balls with the team logos on it. Have x amount of balls for each team according to their odds and then figure out a system where that’s mathematically accurate and doesn’t require random numbers to be in a certain order.
They don't use team logos. The balls are numbered 1-14 and four-number combinations are assigned to each team prior to the balls being randomly selected. The first four picks are determined this way. Team reps are present when this happens.
LOL what did I just say….it’s an idea to make it interesting to broadcast. Not what they are doing now.
Surely there’s a way they can have the ping pong balls easily and quickly unload into a tray with carve outs for the balls that separates them and have multiple attendants plucking out the previous pick’s balls and reload easily and quickly back into the draw in between each pick. All on the watch of the public’s eye, live. I don’t think the draft or league is fixed. Couldn’t they be sued for false advertising of some sort? Seems like a risky thing to do. Who’d watch the NBA if it ever got out that they did that? This isn’t wrestling with soap opera, scripted scenes. You can’t script the ball going in a hoop… unless there are magnets… For those complaining and declaring the NBA is rigged in other threads, I genuinely wonder why you’d watch a second more if you thought that were true. I’m not saying you don’t believe it. I just don’t understand why you haven’t stopped watching the NBA if that’s the case. It’s rigged. Why watch? To see if Silver is going to throw in an unexpected champion? now I do think there are individual refs who can/have rigged games when given the opportunity, eg Tim Donaghy. But I have a very hard time believing the league attempts to interfere with the outcomes of games. They aren’t afraid to interfere with team constructions though, I think.
In theory, this method would be infinitely easier to rig because you'd just need one ball with special characteristics to it, which then gets removed from the mix. The way it's done now, you'd have to somehow tamper with all 4 balls required for a certain combination, and that doesn't work because those balls have to go right back in the machine, meaning you'd keep getting the same combo. Sure, they could televise it and present it a bit differently or whatever, but the method is sound.
That machine is rigged for sure. just like FIFA, when they decide what teams go to what groups for the World Cup.
It's easy to create an unriggable system. Assign six-digit number slots to each participant, then generate a six-digit number using ping pong balls on a live show. Start from the 30th slot and go down one by one to slot number 2. It would be so much fun to watch
everything is fine. these conspiracy theories are extremist disinformation views that have already been fact checked & squashed. like the absurd notion that epstein didn’t kill himself
Maybe we've been exposed to so many extreme theories that we can no longer distinguish between absurd conspiracy theories and valid skepticism. The lottery could very well be rigged. I haven’t seen any conclusive proof that puts all doubts to rest. Until I’m convinced otherwise, I’ll continue to consider the possibility that it’s rigged as entirely plausible.
And who verifies how many of those balls are actually in there since there would be 1001 balls in the hopper (including one that would be a "nobody wins" ball). I'm asking because no matter what the validation, there are people that won't believe it. lol.
The lottery only determines the first 4 picks. I think the last thing the NBA wants to do is to have a "completely random" draft.
