I'm fine with the current team. Ime, can we fix the Free Throw shooting?

This team would be playing the T-Wolves now if we hit at least 50% of our free throws in the series. Yes, Jalen was garbage in the series, but the rest of the team stepped it up in his absence. Our defense was rigorous and figured out how to stop the ****ing Warriors, even with Draymond's antics. I really don't think we need to blow up this team that we rebuilt from 3 years of hell by getting Giannis, Durant, Booker, etc.

For this draft, personally, I want to trade the pick. I knew when we drafted Reed he wasn't going to be a part of the core. He showed flashes of awesomeness when he got the time with us and RGV. He will eventually get his turn. I don't want another rookie team that's going to ride the bench or RGV. Trade the pick with Cam, Jock, and others and get us someone who can clog the middle if we can't sign Steven A.

That's my 2 cents on this upcoming summer and going into the 25-26 season.

    Totally agree.

We don't need to blow it up for older players. We need to be patient and give them more time to figure it out and gain more experience like they did this year.

Notice how the teams remaining in the playoffs have a younger core and the teams with the older stars are starting to flame out. Hell, even the Celtics look really old now with that Tatum injury.

Getting all the way to the Finals require a deep bench and a young star who's able to carry the team (which we are still trying to figure out).

What we need is elite shooters for floor spacing and I think we have more than enough assets (Cam, Reed, picks etc.) to add to what we currently have and make that next step next year.

I'm cool with this team too..I'm not cool with Jalen not taking a leap in his 4th year, not improving his handles and finish, disappearing in the most crucial games

Just in case you were actually serious and not just exaggerating for effect: We hit 70% of our FTs in the series (140 of 200). We had two games where we were close to .500 and we lost both (G1 and G3), but we lost both by double digits and would still have lost even if we hit 100% those nights.*

    * Yeah, I know that if we'd made a few more, the game flow would've been different at the end and you never know. But still.

Alperen needs to start sucking on the basketball again before his free throws.

First, agree with OP we need to be better at shooting FTs, but I'm not in the run it back as is camp.

I love this core... Sengun, Amen, Bari and Reed. If we can trade our other assets and improve around these four, I believe we can build something special.

FVV, Jalen, DB, Tari (love his effort, but he's upgradeable and injury worries me), and Cam (love his passion and ability to score in a flash, just not sure he'll develop under Ime) can be traded and along with select draft assets to improve team. I'd love to move up into the 4-6 range of this draft.

I'd love to resign Adams at a reasonable 3-year deal (team option in yr 3), believe he brings a lot to bench and team with his play and vet leadership.

FA's I hope we look at in no particular order. Would love to add a couple of these guys, either via S-n-T or outright.

SG: Malik Beasley (42% 3P%), Ty Jerome (44% 3P%, made big step forward this year), Nickeil Alexander-Walker (38% 3P%, very good defender), Quentin Grimes (39% 3P%, rising performer), Luke Kennard (43% 3P%, pure shooter), Keon Ellis (43% 3P%, athletic, young defender)

    PG: Malcolm Brogdon,

PF: Santiago Aldama (37% 3P%, good game feel), Dorian Finney-Smith (41% 3P%, Ime would love his D), Guerschon Yabusele (38% 3P%, versatile defender with brute strength), Jake LaRavia (42% 3P%, solid back-up), Taurean Prince (44% 3P%, SF/PF 3&D)

Shooting all around needs to improve, but free throw shooting in particular. It's like an afterthought with this team and that absolutely has to change. They are inexcusably bad at it.

Lots of poor free throw shooters never become good at making them, even after years in the league. They just choke under the pressure in games, even if they can make them in practice.

I think “fine” is an apt way to describe my feelings on our current roster. If we made zero changes i wouldn’t be upset. I want to see how these guys start next season. I want to see what Jalen and Sengun add to their game this summer. I want to see Amens shot. I want to see if Cam can stay focused and play team ball.

I would HATE for us to make a big change. Too risky. We absolutely have pieces capable of winning. We should have won against GSW. That was about experience or lack thereof. Now they have it. Run that **** back.

JALEN AND FFV CAN NOT SHARE THE BACKCOURT. One of them has to go. If I see another game where they combine for like 10-35 I'll throw up.

What, you mean "we need to work harder, turn defense into offense" doesn't help you hit foul shots? I'm stunned to my core.

Fortunately this management does also have the 'We're fine' mentality until Tilman forced them to sign veterans....

The FT shooting is a symptom of the bad shooting in general. Too many guys are mediocre jump shooters (JG, Tari, FVV if this isn't just a down year, Jabari if he doesn't get better) or downright bad ones (Sengun, Amen, Steve-O if he returns). Hell, even with Dillon, I'm sorry, I still just cannot buy him as a 40% 3P shooter, I think his true talent level is probably more around 36-37%.

FT% and shooting ability are highly correlated.

We need better shooters. And what makes it extra-hard is that our two best players are our two worst-shooting starters.

I'd be fine with mostly running it back, but I do think we need to make at least one substantial upgrade to the roster, to shift the balance a little bit toward jump shooting and making our damn FTs (which again go hand-in-hand). I think it might be possible to go deep in the playoffs in today's NBA as just an average-shooting team, if you're good enough at defense, rebounding, rim pressure, etc. I don't think it's possible to go deep as one of the worst jump shooting teams in the league.

There’s no guarantee that we’ll make the playoffs again next season. We better make some changes

This team will never win anything, we aren't good enough on offense, we need better players.

We don't have an alpha our PG is old and slow, our SG is soft as kleenex, and our SF is blocking the way of better players.

Somewhat true. Lemme break it down from your post.

Game 1 - missed 9 FTs, lost by 10 (we sucked at 3s - 6 for 29 and 2 point FG% sucked - 39%). If they made at least half their FTs, we would of won no matter how bad we were from 3s and 2 point range. FREE THROWS KILLED US HERE.
    Game 2
    - missed 4 FTs, won by 15 (we shot 38% 3s) WE WON.
    Game 3
    - missed 10 FTs, lost by 11 (shot well from 3s - 39%, but sucked at FGs - 38%) - Once again, hit half of the FTs and no one would of have noticed our poor 2 PT FG%. AGAIN, FREE THROWS KILLED US HERE.
    Game 4
    - missed 12 FTs, lost by 3 (shot well from 3s - 48% and 2 point FG - 49%) - FREE THROWS DEFINITELY KILLED US HERE.

    Game 5
    - Ime must of said something, because we only missed 6 FTs out of 38 attempts. WE WON.
Game 6 - Missed 13 FTs, but we shot well with 3s and was over 44% from 2 point range. SUCKED AT FREE THROWS AGAIN, BUT WE WON.
    Game 7
    - Missed 6 FTs. IMPROVED HERE, BUT ****ED UP EVERYWHERE ELSE.

60 FTs like you mentioned is a LOT from an overall series perspective! 70% as a team is HORRIBLE! It doesn't help that ****ing Kerr implemented the Hack-a-Steven during the series and Games 6 and 7 didn't matter, but in the 1st 5 games, Games 1, 3, and 4 were definitely winnable even if we sucked from 3s and 2 point range.

It was a given fact that we were THE WORST FREE THROW SHOOTING TEAM IN THE LEAGUE IN THE REGULAR SEASON.

If you're in the playoffs to win a championship, Ime and the coaching staff ****ED UP and didn't work on it enough and relied on shooting from the field. Something needs to be fixed here.

This is exactly like what I would like to see. I don’t care as much about Reed, but we should keep him just in case he’s the real deal. Exempt those 4 from deals, make sure FVV is gone so Ime can’t overplay him, and use your picks wisely and other players to build around these core players. We have to have a better balance between offense and defense to be contenders. You can’t accomplish that with FVV and Dillon getting 35+ minutes virtually every game. FVV, Jalen should be moved with draft picks to put shooters around Amen and Sengun. Dillon can either be traded or go to the bench. There are plenty of more well balanced players that are not quite stars that can upgrade this roster towards contention.
