Today is the 75th Birthday of Stevie Wonder, so of course, I'm listening to Stevie Wonder. Here's a very tasty set from 1974 that includes Higher Ground, Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing, and some killer playing by everyone, including the drummer (@ima_drummer2k):
i did find this interesting that you used the word Gospel immediately after a post by Manny that mentioned Anita Baker who started in Gospel music when she was young.
That is a nice Video and the Block is unfortunate because not everybody will click through to watch it on Youtube.
Not to rudely insert myself here, I just wanna say that I love Anita Baker so much. I’m not even a big r&b guy (although I do love some of it). I heard years ago that she was very difficult to work with. I don’t care if that’s true. I absolutely love Anita Baker.
It started with a slow dance at the 8th grade valentines dance that took place at night, in the cafeteria. I thought I would marry that girl someday. The fact that she dumped me 2 weeks later and then became my best friends girlfriend doesn’t matter at all. Immaterial.
