I know its preseason but something that is of concern to me is the FT shooting of T-Mac. So far this preseason he has been 15-26, for a 57.7% obviously with the lower # of shots the percentage isnt as good of a barometer as it is during the regular season when people shoot hundreds of free throws. But still if this is a sample space taken from the whole it is still a very low percentage for a player that should be shooting above 80%. His career ft % is 78.3 which is surprisingly low at least in my eyes. He should be over 80% especially for the number of times he will be at the line. hopefully JVG and the staff will have tracy work on his FT. But its something that has bothered me. He did have his best season last year at 79.6% which is comforting but if he wants to 'be like kobe' as a winner he needs to get that ft % up to around 84-86

just my thoughts what u guys think

Does Shaq have to get his FT% up to 84-86 to be a winner like Kobe?

5 preseaon games vs 8 years

    Stop worrying over nothing.

the shaq argument makes no sense because t-mac is known to be a great perimeter shooter. and just saying over the course of his first 7 years in the league he never shot over 80%, that to me is concerning considering the type and mold of player tracy is

He's known as a great perimeter scorer because he scores 25+ on 45% shooting and 35% from 3. Not whatever he shoots from the line.

He may never have shot 80% from the line, but in 7 years he shot 35% from 3, which is better than the "winner" Kobe. Tmac's ft woes in PREseason mean nothing. Stop stressing yourself or you'll look like JVG.

I think it is a preaseason, lack of focus thing. If he is still shooting around 60 percent at the end of November, then we can consider it a trend.

I don't care if T-Mac misses every FT for the rest of the season!!! As long as he and Yao can take us to the 2nd round, everyone is gonna be happy.

actually, I'd be disappointed if second round is as far as we got. I actually think they should be western conference this year.

I think he will be alright his freethrow percentage is never that low so its a bit premature to expect anything right now or start assuming.

Really?? I personally would be pleasantly surprised if they got that far considering what kind of staff the Rox got around Yao and T-Mac and Yao not being particularly (I don't know how to say it) intimidating or something like that. There's a small chance though, it's not like going from worst to first, more like mediocre to a top level team.

On topic, 75-79% isn't really that bad of a free throw percentage. Tracy will do alright.

Yes there is, it's October 31st if he doesn't get it extended before he could opt out and the end of this season, basically the same way Bryant did.

No worries though, T-Mac him self has said he wants to extend his contract w/ the Rox and its just a matter of time before they get it done. Just look for a sticky in acouple days that has this topic in it ;)

T Mac will be fine if he's only shooting 75-80% on FTs. But, it is surprisingly low for someone who's supposed to be a good shooter.
