We are watching a scripted show with paid actors. They figure we as fans are so stupid we don't care but I do. Think about this, Luka gets traded at a time Cuban is selling the team. To ensure Dallas doesn't win too much Anthony Davis mysteriously goes down his first game & Kyrie mysteriously has a ACL tear. The players are in on it too
    Remember Chris Paul's hamstring?

All these things are the NBA controlling narratives & revenue. The players are pawns. Remember it's a fraternity. San Antonio was blatantly given Wemby & promised a fresh start when Pop retires. Certain cities like Charlotte have never had a #1 pick. All in all, all of this is scripted & I'm disappointed in the league & media for playing us all for years

    Business as usual.

    Just more and more audacious...

    Sad.

    * CP3's hammy wasn't part of the deal, but Silver's zebras sure as Hell were.

Democrat Owners got the Top Picks in the Draft obviously it looks rigged.

    Adelson Family funding

Popovich hates Trump, Loudly hate speech.

After Stephen Curry retires, Warriors get the 1st Pick no doubt, supporting Kamala Harris.

    Steve Kerr hates Trump

I'm not usually a conspiracy theorist but... the most inexplicable trade in my lifetime is followed up by an improbably #1 pick... I mean, it REALLY makes you wonder...

Get rid of the lottery. It didn't stop tanking and it just makes the league look rigged.

I I feel like there could be some kind of lawsuit here I mean I have spent thousands of dollars on playoff tickets for something that was advertised as being real and authentic now that we know it’s all a script. I should be entitled to my money back plus damages

I’m not kidding. I’m not watching basketball anymore and I’m never going to a basketball game again while the question is the NBA the only one where is the NFL and MLB rigged as well

It doesn't make sense for a league worth billions of dollars to leave the destiny of their billion dollar assets to chance. Especially when having certain players in certain cities means more lucrative TV contracts.
The next rigging is supposedly AJ Dybantsa to Utah like LeBron went to Cleveland. We'll see.

According to the Internet, the NBA calls itself entertainment so they are immune for lawsuits or something.

Is that true? Who knows if the NBA calls itself entertainment or if that makes them immune to litigation. o_O

Nico may be thinking of trading the #1 pick to GS for Draymond Green. "Defense wins championship!"

silver and his board of directors would swiftly settle out of court before ever allowing plaintiff counsel the opportunity for ‘discovery’ and exposing the whole sham

The only way to stop tanking is to end the draft order based on season records and chances in any form. Use a 30-year draft rotation system. Every team knows exact which draft position they will have in a particular year. When they trade their pick, teams will have a good estimate of its value. And teams can do long term planning on rebuilding based on the knowledge of where they will draft in what year.

Thy should just televise the whole process. It would be a drawn out long show and way less dramatic to see the process, partly since teams have multiple ping pong balls and so once they get drawn once, later ones have to be thrown out.

The winner of the #1 pick would come up first (no drama at all).

Then #2 and so on, throwing out repeat ping pong balls.

Then you have to stop and explain picks changing hands (or not) now and then, due to "top 5 protection" or "top 10 protection" etc.

But when they did televise it, you still had allegations of wrongdoing so I'm not sure you can ever halt the accusations.

The shadiest draft of all was when the Rockets landed the #1 pick and drafted Cougar legend Hakeem Olajuwon.

This is a really slippery slope - you could use this to justify rigging every aspect of sports.

The truth is the intrigue of sports is the randomness, the unknowableness. If we want scripted things, we have every other thing on TV.

    Bring back territorial picks:
A territorial pick was a type of special draft choice used in the Basketball Association of America (BAA) draft in 1949 and in the National Basketball Association (NBA) draft after the 1950 season, the year in which the BAA was renamed the NBA. In the draft, NBA teams took turns selecting amateur U.S. college basketball players. Territorial picks were eliminated when the draft system was revamped in 1966.
