I was also thinking the same thing about trading up with the Nets to get him. If we offer #10 and the 27 swap, they'll do the deal.

See @Reeko comment above. That pick would have more value to a team that’s a seller than it does to us.

Not sure if you could have thought of a worse ooutcome for the Rockets than to have 2 low probabilty WC rivals go 1-2 in this lotto, but that's what we got.

IMO they should lower their expectations and see if they can get Booker, San Antonio, Dallas and Philly now are probably better positioned for Giannis because they have guarnateed top 3 picks.

Several teams bit the dust.......and it had to be the Mavs of all teams and their first overall top pick in history.....

Could have been the Jazz, the Wiz, the Hornets, the Pelicans but nope.

Giannis basically implied Texas and the taxfree state and voila.....Mavs and Spurs got the first 2 picks.

The roster needs to churn a bit, this offseason.

For one, playing FVV 40+ mpg has to stop. Keeping FVV is one thing. Playing FVV absurd minutes is another. The backup PG minutes are up for grabs. We have two in-house candidates for those minutes: Amen and Reed. Neither is a slam dunk. PG could be solidly addressed with the 10th pick.

The Rockets lack of a go-to end-of-game playoff option may be another need. A Giannis trade would a huge roster shakeup, with young rotation players and trade assets leaving in the deal, including the 10th pick. I am guessing that this less than 50/50 chance of happening.

If the Rockets do a major trade, there is another option of trading out of this year's draft and maybe net more trade assets and/or perhaps a PG with some years of control. I am not seeing a must-have player at the 10th pick, that would drive this trade.

My final thought is that these mid first round picks are a sweat spot for the Rockets FO (Alpi and Tari). There is no PT next year, but the Rockets are one major trade away from having free rotation minutes.

Jabari will never be big or strong enough to play center, and he has even less bounce/explosiveness than Alpi. His value is on the perimeter only and I'd rather him hit the video room (in order to learn how to cut and move to the open spot) than the weight room. I'd also like to see him learn to make a solid entry pass to the post - he'd get a ton of open looks from Alpi if he were the one feeding him in the post.

I think there's ton of value in having young talent moving in the pipeline. Trading just to trade because we have a lot of young talent is a little silly. I saw people saying the exact same thing when we drafted Amen. If people here think because Ime didn't play Reed or Cam just because that's his rule I'd disagree. Reed sucked ass when he played at the beginning of the year and Cam is a selfish player who doesn't understand 5 on 5 concepts. Cam should be traded for whatever we could get for him. Reed wasn't quite ready yet, but will be more ready next season, if he is on our roster.

Rockets do not have any pick in 2026 and will need to make some harder financial decisions soon with Brooks/Bari/Tari having some overlapping roles and two of them having extensions coming up. I think we will both would agree there's a strong chance we consolidate some of these players or maybe won't be able to afford all three with Amen's max coming up. After we consolidate we'll need to replace depth.

Honestly if we keep it give me Rasheer Fleming. We could use a terror triplet

6’9 height, 7’5 wingspan, blocks shots, moves his feet and hits 3 pointers

Best 3 & D prospect after Cooper Flagg

I'd much rather have the Mavs trade #1 for Giannis than the Spurs getting him. Not having Flagg in the West would be nice. Doubt Nico is that dumb, but I guess he's already proven that he is.

I’m not against continually drafting young players. But I’m also in the camp that thinks we need to upgrade Jalen immediately. This pick now has a set value that is very good (instead of some future first that might be in the mid 20s). That’s an area of the draft that you can get a good player, but probably not one that’s going to supplant anyone in our lineup. Go ahead and use it now and try to preserve some of the future draft capital that we can use when players have begun to price themselves off our team.

I wouldn't be upset if we traded it and moved on from Green btw. I just don't think trading it because we have a lot of young players is a good reason. I also agree that picks have a certain value pre and post draft so there is a timing element here.
If Rockets decided to trade back in the draft, draft Fleming, then pick up a later 2026 FRP which would increase our expendable picks (could trade both 2027 pick/swaps in that scenario) I wouldn't mind that strategy. I just haven't seen many trade proposals that blew me away. I'd do the 10th pick and Cam for Coby White and think Chicago has incentive to do that as well -- as an example

Either trade out or trade back and pick Nique Clifford

None of these guys are ready to contribute on a playoff team

Best value play here is to either use the pick in a trade for an upgrade to the roster, or get more picks for the future.

Right now Kon if he's still there and I'd be okay with Kaparas or Jase has talent as well. That may change in coming weeks as I can review more in depth.

I'm open to trading the pick but it depends what we can work out in a deal.

The BK 27 pick swap got even more valuable last night. I'd shop that pick around with some combination of young guys and keep this years pick. Ideally the Rockets are competing in 27 and whoever they take this year will be able to contribute by then.

I'm taking a hard look at Queen. He has an intriguing skillset but there might be some overlap with Sengun not just in strengths but weaknesses as well (poor outside shooting, avg athlete and defender).

You take Kon if he's available, we desperately need to improve shooting at the guard spots.

If it were up to me I'm going to Charlotte and offering Green + 10 for their fourth to take Tre Johnson.

11th pick Shai Gilgeous Alexander, 15th Kawhi Leonard, 15th Giannis, Franz Wagner 8th pick

Rockets did pass on Kawhi Leonard and Giannis pick gave up 14th pick in Kyle Lowry trade for James Harden

    2nd Round Nikola Jokic
