Will Trump's blatant greed and corruption from being swayed by the Qataris be his ultimate downfall. Will he have flied too close to the golden sun in his half billion dollar airplane from Qatar? For the record I am interested in getting into this Qatari bribe pipeline. I'd even settle for Turkey or Egypt if it meant getting random gold bars.
Also for the Record, I do not expect the SCOTUS or the GOP congress to enforce the constitution on this matter. Nor shall any person holding any office of profit or trust under the United States, or any of them, accept any present, emolument, office or title of any kind whatever from any King, Prince or foreign State; nor shall the United States in Congress assembled, or any of them, grant any title of nobility. https://www.britannica.com/story/what-is-the-emoluments-clause
aside from ethics issues, potential conflicts of interest and constitutional violations, arent there also inherent national security concerns with the president flying around in a plane "gifted" to him by a foreign country, and a foreign country with a strong track-record of authoritarianism and human rights abuses at that?
Let me ChatGPT that for you: The Supreme Court of the United States or Congress should enforce the Emoluments Clause of the U.S. Constitution when a President accepts a $400 million gift from a foreign government for several key constitutional, legal, and democratic reasons: 1. Upholding the Constitution The Foreign Emoluments Clause (Article I, Section 9, Clause 8) prohibits federal officials, including the President, from accepting any present, emolument, office, or title from a foreign state without Congress's consent. Accepting a $400 million gift without Congressional approval would be a clear violation of this clause. Failing to enforce this provision would render the Constitution's checks on foreign influence meaningless. 2. Protecting National Sovereignty and Independence The Framers included the Emoluments Clause to prevent foreign powers from corrupting U.S. officials and influencing American policy. A $400 million gift could easily create a conflict of interest or the appearance that the President is acting in the interest of the foreign donor rather than the American people. Enforcing the clause maintains U.S. independence in decision-making. 3. Maintaining Checks and Balances Allowing the President to accept massive foreign gifts without consequence would undermine the system of checks and balances. Enforcement by Congress (through investigations, oversight, or even impeachment) or the Supreme Court (in applicable legal disputes) reaffirms that no one is above the law, including the President. 4. Preventing Corruption A $400 million gift is not a minor issue—it strongly suggests potential bribery, undue influence, or corruption. The Emoluments Clause is a safeguard against exactly this kind of transaction. 5. Preserving Public Trust The perception that the President can be bought by a foreign power undermines trust in the integrity of the office and in American democracy. Enforcing the Emoluments Clause signals that the government is serious about ethics, accountability, and transparency. Conclusion The Constitution explicitly bars federal officials from accepting gifts from foreign governments without Congressional approval. If the President violates this by accepting a $400 million gift, it is not just a political scandal—it is a constitutional crisis. Both the Supreme Court and Congress have a duty to enforce the Emoluments Clause to protect the rule of law, preserve democratic institutions, and defend the national interest from foreign influence.
LOL cmon man. Do you honestly think the guy whos selling meme coins to unknown buyers suddenly cares about ethics or accountability? Trump knows his cultists like @Space Ghost will continue to worship him regardless what he does
Wait, are you suggesting the plane is titled to Trump instead of the DoD? That sounds like fraud. And the amount of people required would constitute conspiracy. Can you share your proof? I would be interested in seeing this so I can pass this onto the authorities.
I don't know if you read up on this but regardless of the DoD the problem is the plane goes to his presidential library after his term Edit: my initial reaction was who cares it's a government asset. Then I googled the story, the reporting isn't clear.
Look. The quality of our government 'servants' is going down hill. Every president since Clinton has been marred in some bullshit. I acknowledge Trump takes it to the next level as did Biden. That is the problem. US citizens have turned a blind eye and will let literally anyone come to Washington. And when a politician does something bad, the retort always comes down to 'but at least he isn't as bad as Trump'.
If the DOD is truly the one accepting this “gift” then I suspect they will spend just as much on it as they would just building it themselves through one of providers. Since it’s a foreign country, the plane will literally have to be taken apart and put back together because of the massive security risk this poses. But we all know that’s not what’s going on here. DOD is accepting the gift/bribe in name only so Trump can have a talking point for his online activists like SpaceGhost. Nobody is dumb enough to buy your propaganda dude. Your efforts here to be a mouthpiece for the most corrupt president in our history is pretty mind blowing.
Do you think the DOD is going to use this plane to ship enemies of the state to the prison camps in El Salvador and now Libya before giving it to Trumps library? or will the DOD put it in a combat role and put on some air to air missiles
Aside from the bald-faced corruption, which isn't funny, what I do find funny is that Republicans can easily make this a clean transaction. They control both chambers in Congress. They could pass a bill giving the president permission to accept this foreign emolument. It would be completely constitutional. But, to suggest it would be to suggest the president is in some way accountable to the authority of Congress. Trump wouldn't stand for it. And Republicans would be too afraid to say it aloud.
SMH So . . .. . he intimates to foreign countries that we may have a Kill Switch on some of the stuff we sell them but will take a PLANE from a foreign country . .. . . .with no thought of them having a similar Kill Switch Rocket River
Why stop there? Shouldn't we also stop all the fraud happening everywhere else? Like the rampant abuse of insider trading? or is this only a Trump thing and we turn a blind eye to everything else
only a downfall if the plane crashes (which it could because Trump let Elon Musk fire all the Air Traffic Controllers)
Again I would not care if the plane remained in use for the next president after he leaves office. I dont see why people can construe a gift to the government as a potential bribe. I understand that is the media's concern also.
I am more here for MAGA turning on him over this than anything else. He shouldn’t accept the plane but he will because it’s his nature.
