We ate at Cochon last time we were there. The food was really good but I didn’t love the corporate feel of the space.
"Failing to submit tax returns" for three years when you own a business that's raking it in is just asking for it. This was destined to fail. Straight up negligence. If not this, they would have driven straight into some other easily avoidable roadblock.
I don't remember what the place looked liked a few years ago, I just remember the meal Sorry I steered you wrong.
This happens to so many places (see: every place mentioned in this thread). I don't comprehend why they don't just have a CPA who does all of this stuff for them?
@Jontro @pgabriel They can’t seem to fly away from trouble https://www.click2houston.com/news/...grand-jury-indictment-for-2020-bar-explosion/ Former owner of Turkey Leg Hut arrested after federal grand jury indictment for 2020 bar explosion
As I rapidly approach 50 in a matter of a few years --- I have realized I have basically started turning into this guy. Winter in Chicago? Shorts, a white t-shirt (possibly something crude on it) and at absolute best a massive hoodie or a robe (mine is blue though) when going into stores or grocery shopping. In the summer? A white t-shirt and basketball shorts and these same sandals. I have had a few clients run into me outside of my work and not even recognize me. My son just shakes he head and asks what happened to me.... my wife is used to it, only asks how I tolerate negative temperatures in sandals and Nike basketball shorts. I'll dress up if they ask me to or I have to - but now I try to avoid those situations. I am like literally a decade away from the Nick Nolte "scrubs" years.
Because while they may be very good at making food - they are oftentimes horrendous business people and also the culture in the restaurant business is similar to being a poor rockstar, lots of drugs, young women and amazing fun.
