NBA cup and play-in are huge benefits.

NBA cup makes the early season a little more fun and the play-in does prevent like half the league from tanking. Instead now you get 5 or so teams tanking, we had a team like the Bulls late in the season try to make a run to get in the playoffs where before they would have just laid down.

The all-star game is a mess though and the draft lottery is way too much weighted against the teams that need it the most.

Absolutely rigged. Dallas was owed a favor for moving Luka to the California market. The NBA is such a joke.

The NBA is fully alinged with gambling interests now.
When you get in bed with lowlifes, everything, even a rigged system, is now on the table. It's no wonder so many people think this has been rigged, just like Cleveland.

Remember when Anthony Bennett was the top prospect in the draft and Giannis Antetoukounmpo went 15th?

10th could be the best player.

Every rep of the team is present as the draw is being conducted and they do post a video of the entire drawing (see JR's and my previous posts) like minutes after the drawing.

I don't think there was a lottery then.

    I thought Ewing was first.

The video they post is of the ping pong ball drawing itself. So unless they know before that drawing, I'm still not sure how they rig it. Not to mention then all the teams, accounting firm, and NBA officials have to be in on it if it's rigged at that point.

    Mavericks draw all attention.

    Look at the Spurs.

They got Wemby, now they got 2nd pick again. Silver did that for Pop leaving? Lol

If I am the one leading the rig process, the info is only available to the owners and/or president of basketball ops

    10. Houston Rockets: Kasparas Jakucionis, PG, Illinois
    Freshman
    | TS%: 59.8

Scouting report: Jakucionis helped himself quite a bit at Illinois, where he took on an enormous role as an 18-year-old debuting at the Division I level and put together a strong season. Despite predictable ups and downs as part of that adjustment, NBA teams remain largely optimistic that his toughness, playmaking feel, size and versatility at either guard spot will lead to a promising pro career.

There have been concerns about his ability to create separation off the dribble, but Jakucionis' ball-screen savvy and room to grow as a shooter should enable him to make an impact as part of a team's rotation, at the very least. -- Woo

NBA intel and fit: The Rockets acquired swap rights to Phoenix's pick in last summer's deal with the Nets, and the Suns' underwhelming play turned it into a valuable one. After a strong regular season ended in a first-round postseason exit, this pick represents an opportunity for Houston to bolster its deep roster, whether drafting a prospect or using this selection as a trade chip. Jakucionis wouldn't directly address a need but would give Houston significant backcourt depth to build with as they weigh the future of their roster, particularly if they decide to move on from Jalen Green and/or Fred VanVleet and transition toward Reed Sheppard, and potentially the player they select here. -- Woo

    59. Houston Rockets: Hansen Yang, C, Qingdao (China)
