Everyday the Trump administration tries to devise new and untried ways to **** up the social contract of the United States.

Trump administration ‘looking at’ suspending habeas corpus, Stephen Miller says
    • Senior White House advisor Stephen Miller said that the Trump administration is “actively looking at” suspending habeas corpus, the right to challenge a person’s detention by the government.
    • Miller was answering a reporter who asked about President Donald Trump entertaining the idea of suspending the writ of habeas corpus to deal with illegal immigration into the United States.
    • “The Constitution is clear, and that, of course, is the supreme law of the land, that the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus can be suspended in time of invasion,” Miller said at the White House.

If this goes through, maga will justify it by saying, "well, if you're not doing anything wrong you have nothing to worry about" SMH, Project 2025 wants complete power at the Executive Level.

Steven Miller is evil incarnate. He's either figuratively or literally a demon. Not totally sold on which.

It would not suprise me if he smells of brimstone and his eyes turn all black when nobody's looking.

Someone should douse him with holy water to check if he will spontaniously combust.

WOW, are you just going to ignore the overcharging which the Supreme Court struck down? Will you ignore the extended pretrial detention? Will you ignore the severe punishment (multi-year prison sentences) for crimes that other protestors have received mere fines? Will you ignore the 99% conviction rate, which makes a mockery of the justice system?

These people were political prisoners, plain and simple. Done to cover up the Democrats' theft of the 2020 election and suppress dissent.

America is better than than this third world country type of political persecution. Thankfully Trump pardoned and freed them all.

"Overcharging" lol a grand jury returned back the indictments for the defendants which is how the law works. You dont get to decide what's "overcharged" or not as they had due process and a jury of their peers made the decision.

Every single defendant had due process and a right to a lawyer. You're a shameless troll with no morals

Don't be so trolly. It is an adversarial system and the prosecutors used all their tools to prosecute before the SC took one of them away. Then they complied with that decision (contrast with how the Trump Admin dodges compliance with court orders). Pretrial, they all had bond hearings. Some were denied bail because they were deemed a flight risk or a danger to the community, which is how the system works every day. The "severe" punishments were determined by normal court processes and they all had an opportunity to face a jury of peers. The conviction rate is high because they committed crimes in public with a million cameras around them. Prosecutors don't bring cases they don't think they can win.

You brought this up as some kind of whataboutism re Miller floating the idea of suspending habeas corpus and denying people their right to be tried by a court, face their accusers and be judged by a jury of peers. It's a completely ridiculous whataboutism because no matter how severe you think the outcome of the J6 trials were, they were still done by process and Miller is suggesting we get rid of the process. There is absolutely no basis of comparison between the two.

I thought Trump secured the border and stopped the invasion ?

How can we then suspend habeas corpus because we are being invaded?
