A24 has released the first trailer for Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland’s “Warfare” which is slated to open in cinemas next year. Mendoza is an Iraq War veteran who served as the military supervisor on Garland’s controversial 2024 title “Civil War” which A24 released a few months back. Charles Melton, Joseph Quinn, Kit Connor, Cosmo Jarvis, Will Poulter, Finn Bennett, Noah Centineo, Taylor John Smith, Adain Bradley, Michael Gandolfini, Henrique Zaga, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai and Evan Holtzman star in the film. Specifics of the plot are under wraps beyond it involving a platoon of American Navy SEALs in the home of an Iraqi family, overwatching the movement of US forces through insurgent territory. It’s dubbed a “visceral, boots-on-the-ground story” told in real time and based on the memory of the people who lived it. A24 has also released a tagline saying: “Everything is based on memory”. The project is seemingly trying hard for authenticity. A more specific release date is expected to be announced early in the new year. https://www.darkhorizons.com/first-trailer-alex-garland-co-directed-warfare/
Damn, it's been 21 years since it broke out. I don't think we've had as many hard hitting movies like we did with the Vietnam War.
Depends, the story and characters are barebones as the filmmakers are more concerned with putting you on the ground in real time as everything goes fubar. The action sequences and sound design are excellent across the board, it's intense but don't expect to know much about the characters or standard story....
I enjoyed that show as well, this isn't going to be that since this is more of recreation of a very specific event, director was one of the service men involved in the op gone bad.....
