The Chinese have absolutely no incentive to help Trump out of the mess he has made. They will wait out the 90 days and let the panic start to get leverage.
The insidiousness of Trump's hydra of advisers is that some like Vance or Navarro really want to let the current supply chain all burn down. Retailers and their suppliers were waiting for either a trade deal or definitive tariff rules before ordering anew. Some were smart enough to front load but think of it this way. If they're smart enough to plan ahead, wouldn't they look for new overseas partners outside of China? You take a 30% ish impairment because you fear Trump's lunatics will take the driving seat again but China's factories lose out in the process. That isn't to say the CCP isn't aware or completely unprepared for this, but it also means Trump won't completely fold as some people are expecting.
@raining threes asked me.... What billionaire friends has he made exceptions for and why does everything seem to revolve around Trump in your world? Since it was in a Rockets forum I'll post my response here. All the tech billionaires who poured millions into his campaign. Trump exempted smartphones, computer monitors and various electronic parts from his tariffs. Trump is the President, so of course the crap he is doing affects me. I've already listed many of my concerns too many times, and I won't repeat them all again, but here's a few.... The thought of him politicizing our military leaders as Trump loyalists over the constitution or the laws, even if they aren't as qualified as the ones they are replacing is scary. It's a step towards a Dictatorship or an Authoritarian regime. Same with the DOJ, CIA, Trump loyalists, flat out liars and right wing conspiracy theorists he's putting in charge of departments who are supposed to investigate cyber crimes, terrorism, etc. Some of them really lack in expertise from their predecessors. He's also backing off of monitoring and investigating right wing terrorism. Trump’s counter-terror cuts will harm fight against far right, experts warn Scale of cuts undermines US president’s own promises of ending stateside terrorism and curtailing antisemitism https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/mar/30/trump-counter-terrorism-cuts President Trump aims to end investigations into extremism in the U.S. military https://www.npr.org/2025/01/24/nx-s...stigations-into-extremism-in-the-u-s-military I mean the guy has only attended 12 "daily" intelligence briefings so far, and it's widely known he doesn't read the briefing document, referred to as “the book,” that is put together by intelligence analysts in a highly labor-intensive process. That doesn't give me confidence, that's for sure. His refusal to accept science is just ignorant, He spreads conspiracy theories and lies without batting and eye though. His lack of concern about polluting the environment is just disgusting. It's all about money to him. His firings of so many scientists and medical research experts with decades of expertise is disturbing. His racist and bigoted viewpoint BS in his DEI firings disgusts me. He's stripping away civil rights. It's all that ignorance, tainted with bigotry and hate that's disturbing to me. What happened to free speech? He is censoring government agencies, and forcing them exclude certain words. He is retaliating or withdrawing funding for those who don't comply or share his views, whether it's libraries, universities, public schools, museums, reporters, news stations, public broadcasting and more. I don't want to hear one side of history coming from a racist bigot, and don't believe kids should be growing up with a censored or altered version of history, science, or reality. I certainly don't believe in excluding reporters from White House briefings who don't toot Trump's horn. Even today he posted this twisted version of reality on his Truth Social propaganda and lies platform. I'd rather know what's really happening than bury my head in a rabbit hole of half truths and flat out lies. The world is a better place without people like that, and especially without those types in power.
China was willing to shutdown their country for years for covid without any political fallout. You think China is going to back down? Meanwhile, Americans went crazy of toilet paper and voted in an orange cheeto r****d because of few points of inflation. Wait until Americans feel some stagflation like the 70s
You're right. The vid I posted in the American dominance thread describes something similar. Nixon didn't gaf when he took the usd off the gold standard and forced everyone else across the world to deal with it. People might assume fire and brimstone is in my posts as did how people in the 70s treated that decade. It's a fundamental shift that the more sensible people here should try to understand. Also, I think China will back down only if they consider it's a winning position or is able sustain the current system to help dig out of their pile of debt. They have 3-6T in reserves but the underlying real estate weakness rivals the gfc. It's just that they mostly know where all the bodies are buried whereas during the gfc, we spread it all over the place, along with overcollateralizing derivatives of the original debt, and didn't have the means to settle it without triggering credit panics. So even if China wins overall, the isolationist camp wants to chill business decisions to the point where near shoring or friend shoring becomes the position for American globalists. That's how they think. They tariffed penguin countries to close loopholes. Nations that strike deals will likely have provisions to close loopholes regarding country of origin for outgoing products. China can rent Amazon-like procurement centers in England, ship goods there, store for a month, then legitimately swap the labels to reduce tariff rates. Asian business are adept at these practices and it's considered a game of whack a mole since 45 started tariffs. A lot of that system is trust based. Everyone knows we need China. We're just doing what China started in their side 15 years ago. They're still in the process of deleting every American dependency like Windows software or GE engines. I believe a big reason why Jensen Huang hardcore lobbied to undo the AI chip ban is because China was a bigger threat at overcoming the CUDA moat and open sourcing the alternative than it's other rivals like AMD. It was also a stupid idea to make Chinese products 3 years behind the best available for Chinese consumers to buy while whatever Nvidia sold was older and more expensive. That's something Nvidia would be more nimble to handle than the US finding every dealer in Singapore or UAE smuggling chip cards like a drug mule. I'm not sure that you can put the toothpaste back into the tube even if it felt really swell these past decades.
You're one of the few people that get it. China is going to embarrass Trump without conceding any concessions. This was a trial run to test Trumps endurance in the event of a Taiwan invasion. They're salivating at the mouth realizing how weak Trump is. Taiwan is gone
Different era. When Nixon was President and Israel went to war with the Arab powers (yon kapur war) there was a full embargo of oil which led to long lines and gasoline shortages around the nation. We stood strong and didn't back down from the Saudis bcz Americans were supportive of Israel. Does anyone think we still have that same backbone today? LOL of course not. Were weaklings now
No one knows what will happen with Taiwan. Americans should show up to 2027 and beyond. If telling everyone Trump lost Taiwan because Americans are soft is motivation, preach it. China has earned a lot of goodwill because of Trump. Other countries might hate and loathe Trump and the US by extension. Invading Taiwan is a line most countries don't want China to cross. Much like how EU depended upon Russian gas and didn't believe Biden's warnings of imminent attacks. With how great China is looking with ASEAN and its BRI partners, invading Taiwan wouldn't make sense to their current rhetoric and bely some desperation to pull off a move. I don't know what you mean by "we" when you fled to Denmark and posted on here several times how you cant wait to watch things burn in America after Trump was elected. Might be language barrier.
Just replace the name Trump with Biden and you post will be closer to correct. I'm not worried about the environment. The Green New Scam needs to die lie DEI with the rest of Biden's crap. Except I'll give Biden a pass because of his Alzheimers disease. His handlers screwed the country up and were in bed with the Chinese. It's been a little over 100 days and I think all Trump has done is secure the border. Put people in place to carry out the agena he was elected to do. Also I'm very happy that military enlistment is way up (Ask yourself why this is) Also it looks like the wars that happened on Biden's watch will be ending soon. Overall I'm very happy with the job Trump has done. He's carying out his campaign slogan of promises made promises kept. Tell me how the Trump POTUS has affected you personally and I'll tell you how it's affected me.
I can't take your responses seriously anymore. You couldn't even answer how many years you served in the military, yet act like you know so much about it. You have no clue that those DEI firings were BS, along with his highly under qualified loyalist as Secretary of Defense. You want a bunch of brown shirts doing the President bidding, regardless of whether it's not constitutional, and is immoral, or illegal? That is a military regime, and one that Dictators use. You say too much BS that disgusts me. I can't help but think of those who don't give a damn about the environment as selfish. Most people in the world care about the environment, but it's all about money with those types who don't. I can't fathom thinking controlling pollution, toxic waste, and poisoning waters and air is nothing but a scam, and not worthy of a pot to pee in. That's mindset is disturbing. If people get sick, get diseases, or die, it's worth it, because my gas is cheaper, and my oil stocks are up. Let's mine more coal, and lower regs on the dust and safety protections on those coal miners! Yeehaw! You and your kids can be coal miners! Making America Great! SMH I'm not about to continue any more discussions with you. It's a waste of time to talk politics with someone who defends all the indefensible stuff the orange puke says and does. Trump is the savior in the eyes of those in what can only be described as a cult.
The military had to lower their standards to allow for that Trump surge of MAGA youth to meet the standards needed fyi. Yes the military saw a surge after Trump won. MAGA is a cult. Of course in a cult people in the cult jump at the chance to serve the cult leader. To me that surge last December after he was elected and the lowering of standards is actually concerning. Overall though the military still is below their target of needed recruits. So yes.. Trumps win did convince a bunch of MAGA cult followers to go join thinking they were taking up arms for the dear leader. But how good of soldiers will they be when they are actually asked to lay down their lives in a future situation when they were only motivated to serve their country when their country was run by a criminal racist sexual assaulter, and draft dodger? How equip are you to truly serve the country when your only motivation to get in was to serve your own political interests tied to a hateful agenda?
I haven't served in the military. (Which is why I'm glad Trump is back in office, no new wars after Trump cleans up the mess Biden;s cronies left for him.) I'm glad Hegseth is running things now instead of a guy like Austin. Hegseth is a major reason why recruitment is up. (This probably really bothers you.) If you want wars/chaos/lawlessness then keep voting for the Dems because that's what you're going to get. You say Trump's a liar, except he's done exactly what he's promised he would do on the campaign trail and most of what he's promised was accomplished within the first 100 days. The Wars will be ending soon and I'm sure you wont be happy about that and will find a way to not give Trump the credit for ending the wars. As for not taking me seriously, I could care less what you think of me and I'm just glad Trump is a promises made, promises said kinda guy. (Unlike most politicians) It's gonna be a long 3 1/2 years for you libs and I've got my popcorn ready so I'll enjoy your tears.
So over 1/2 the country is a cult? I would say the Dems are a cult that worship at the altars of abortion/Geen New Deal/socialism. I dont care how the military recruitment numbers went up, only that they went up. Yes Biden left the military in bad shape. Of course he did, all libs do this.
Normally you could just ignore people him.^ Now, these ignorant buffoons want to make all of our lives worse because they are too stupid to realize how stupid they are.
No deets until after the market rips... https://www.cnn.com/2025/05/11/poli...ks-touting-substantial-progress-and-agreement Top US officials emerge from China trade talks touting ‘substantial progress’ and ‘deal’ Loop for the Chinese reps This looks like both have agreed that no talks would lead to a point of no return. Devil's in the details...
Ignorance on so much. They refuse to believe he lies his as* off, and he loves it. They believe all his conspiracy theories, especially the tin hatters, QAnon types, and right wingers. He spewed this kind of crap... Which attracted a lot of these types.... But ....in reality he's just a snake oil salesman who had his own agenda, which required lying his as* off several times a day for years. His true agenda was .... #1 Running for President to avoid being put in prison for numerous felonies across several states, while getting his dumbass cult followers to help foot the bill for his defense. #2 - Make billions off his presidency, wheeling and dealing policies and favors for big spenders at Trump properties, those pouring money into his crypto and real estate businesses, and grifting off the government, while tooting his horn as King of the World. The ignorant ones still look at him as an honest man putting the people and our country first, and sacrificing and working hard for them, but the grift and power quest is real....
Trump initiated a trade war during his first term, prompting many US businesses to recognize as early as 2018 that US-China economic decoupling was inevitable. In the years that followed, forward-thinking US companies had actively diversified their supply chains away from China — whether by relocating their own manufacturing facilities or finding alternative suppliers. Now in 2025, US businesses still dependent on Chinese production, either through direct ownership or procurement relationships, are largely those who attempted but encountered significant obstacles in establishing viable alternatives.
