it helped him quite a bit that the OKC owner(s) let him decide when to to have the team compete and then trust his judgement when it is time to teardown a roster, collect assets and rebuild.

Over the years some owners have been impatient and badgered their Front Offices to make Win Now moves when the best course of action would have been to teardown a roster and rebuild.

Should have touched on it, owner and management seems to be totally in sync.

    That's rare, impossibility.

He made his biggest move with the PG trade, that pretty much set him up for the dynasty since it gave Shai+boat load of picks. After that he has made incremental moves but they are all compounding. For example he got Al Horford for picks and then sent him Celtics for even more picks.

I guess since he only does little moves per year he only won GMOY once but big picture all those small moves add up.

I wonder if he offered all 4 picks this year and one next he could get Cooper Flagg?

What an embarrassment of riches Presti's like the dude in Monopoly with hotels everywhere while everyone else just have a couple rail roads.

Nobody will trade Cooper flagg and Dylan Harper imo. Either of those can be your signature player for a decade.

Trade for more 1st round picks. Isn't that what he has been doing?

They aren't going to be able to pay everyone so they need to strike when the iron is hot.

They have 1 MVP, 1 max dude, 1 injury prone dude, Cason Wallace and the rest are overpaid role players. Tbh they can dump their role players once money becomes an issue, guys like Hartenstein, Dort and Caruso are all extremely overpaid.

Those are still the 3 max contracts. You still need the overpaid role players to win. I think the age of winning with 2 or 3 players is over.

Denver had similar problems, when they got rid of Bruce Brown and then Caldwell Pope, they immediately hit a low.....and it took a few months until they got back up.

They will need to dump these overpaid contracts once JDub and Chet are making the max.

Presti got lucky in the draft? Or does the "lucky" narrative only applies to Stone

Ever listened to him speak? He is a philosopher, this is like comparing an elementary school student to a PHD candidate. ....with Presti being almost a decade younger than Stone

I give you that Stone has been a great kid so far.......
