    Since April 11
    Walker .747 OPS
    Yainer .781 OPS

    Since April 22
    Walker .797 OPS
    Diaz .882 OPS

Still early enough in the season that an awful start to the year can depress the hell out of your numbers. Can't say anything for sure(particularly with Walkers age), but if I were a betting man these 2 are gonna end up around where we expected coming into the season.

Get those 2 going with Yordan, I'm not as concerned about the woeful offense as most around here are. If Pena and Meyers can sustain (which I'm not holding my breath on) it could be an extremely good offense.

I think Pena sustains or at least improves from the last couple of years. He should be extended. I have my doubts on Meyers. Cam Smith should be sent down and play exclusively in CF. We need to get Smith and Dezenzo on the field most every game in the near future. Dezenzo right now.

Christian Walker: .213, 10 RBI, 4 HR’s. Folks, it’s starting to feel like another swing and miss at 1B via the free agent route, and I’m not sure the 2025 Astros can sustain this performance level and hit any goals of reaching the post-season short of “falling in” to the playoffs for a quick exit. Need more bats

The Astros have 3 position players with a WAR over 0.5. If you had bet me that ~1/4 of the way through the season those 3 players would be Pena/Paredes/Meyers you would have won some monies.

Walker and Diaz are sitting at 0.1; Altuve and Alvarez are at -0.4

Funny you mention this NOW when he is on his first 5 game hitting streak as an Astro, and has been quite good after a poor start.

Christian had a .482 OPS after the first 18 games of the season. Since then, he has a .776 which is 120 wRC+.

    The past 3 seasons, Christian's wRC+ has averaged 120.

He is not, and has never been a superstar slugger and a team's savior.

What he is, is a very good complementary player who makes all your other infielders better and can deepen your lineup as the 4th or 5th best hitter on a team.

And after a slow start that's what he has been.

It's Alvarez, Altuve, and Diaz who need to carry this team offensively along with Smith and Dezenzo developing into the kind of hitters who can join them.

If Alvarez can wake up when he comes back, we might have a lineup

Walker's bat is beginning to come around. Due to his oblique injury he was behind to start the season.

We assume that's what it was.

I don't care as long as it's behind us.

The biggest change in his recent "improvement" is he's not striking out at a Dave Kingman pace.

Walker has been coming around later. Premature to write him off.

This sucks. He was doing a good job for us and I expected him to improve.

I resented the late biggio years. I’m scared we are in for part two. Some difficult discussions are in order if his bat is truly falling off.
