Why do we have to wait at all? If we add Giannis this team could easily win 55+ games next season and once again be on top of the western conference. We just need one superstar/closer and our team is complete. I think adding Giannis and Naz Reid - subtracting Jalen, Cam, Reed and maybe Tari. This would propel our team instantly into championship contention. Sengun can play double big with Giannis or Naz and we can spread the floor with Bari/Brooks/FVV/Naz. I don't understand the people who say we should continue developing fresh talent. We literally took a championship contending team in the warriors to game 7 without a functional shooting guard. We almost beat those fools 4v5. The Rockets would have easily swept this weak ass Timberwolves team and would have been in the WCF without a superstar on the team.
this is the way I feel. Yes we’ve got special players in Amen and Sengun but they aren’t the best fit together because neither can shoot. Jalen and Bari are our two highest picks and neither are likely to end up being stars; neither are among the 7 best players in their drafts. We don’t know what we have in Reed and Cam. I’d argue Tari’s motor is pretty special but he’s not a good shooter and has missed a ton of time. So I don’t think we’ve knocked our drafts out of the park and I think Ime is largely responsible for the success on the court. I’m open to making some moves to consolidate. But I dont think we are just a #1 option away. This roster still needs work. I just wish I trusted Stone to pull off a franchise changing trade. It feels like we say this every summer, but this is the offseason Stone has to make some moves to balance the roster.
The only way I could think about ‘waiting for Jalen ‘ is with a huge upgrade at the pg spot, which I don’t see happening.
I agree he would benefit from a better pg and we had a chance to pair him with Fox this year and missed that opportunity. I would have loved to see them in the backcourt together.
FVV Brooks Amen Bari/Sengun/Naz Reid Giannis We can also move players around depending on who we face. Can also run the triple big lineup with Bari at SF and move Amen to shooting guard.
I think we are a #1 offensive option away IF Amen takes another step next year. If he can improve to be a 20ppg scorer on similar efficiency as this year with a workable 3pt shot, then I think the above KD/Amen/Sengun scenario works. But that might be something that will take until the trade deadline for the Rockets to know. So overall I'm good with not getting a star this offseason. But yeah, the shooting needs to improve. Both in terms of players added and get someone who can figure out why Jabari and Reed, two of the best shooting prospects in recent years, can't seem to translate to the pros.
I think with Bari it’s pretty simple: he can’t dribble. And it’s undermined the careers of so many great college shooters. One of the best college shooters i ever saw was Trajon Langdon. But he couldn’t stick in the nba because he had no handles. Way more important for a guard shooter, but I think it’s one of the most important skills for translating to the nba game. I don’t think bari worked out for us, but clearly they underestimated how bad his handles are. That right there basically caps his high end outcome because he can’t create. But I do think he can become a great 2-way 3&D guy. He’s got the work ethic to maximize the skills he has.
Jalen ran into the ultimate dirty cheaters of the league (Warriors). He would have done way better against any other team in his first Playoff series.
Green’s value is not what Rockets think, but what the league is willing to give for him. I don’t think other GMs would want to put their career or team success anywhere near Green consistency. Much like a new car loosing value when driven off the lot. Our second pick in the draft class of this generation has run his course as Rocket in many ways. Green’s value was as much off the court than on in entertainment value watching him over the past 1/2 decade. Remember Green was house money (OKC). We when big and hasn’t worked out like most expected, (The next greatest player ever rarely dose) I think the extension was trying to turn the contract into a trade chip, makings more house money. Green will be an expiring contract soon. Stone is a very intelligent and conniving person. He is not putting Green above himself. Stone is always looking for his next opportunity before he makes any move, mostly to our detriment a lot of the time. The opportunists that over thinks himself because he views himself as the smartest person in the room. Others do business around him, while he tries to take advantage of everything, in reality missing out on the opportunity that are truly there. I don’t personally know him, but that is my read on him, over the years as a Rocket fan. I enjoy watching Stone’s manipulation of the team from a far. He is always pulling the strings like an evil genius puppeteer. How will Stone gracefully distance himself from Green? IDK. But can’t wait to find out. This offseason is worth the cost of admission.
Green is the best player on the team. To trade him when his value is at its lowest point ever would not be a wise move. Buy low sell high should be the motto. Don’t let one bad series (his first) sway what was a fabulous season where he playrd every single game. He’s a great very young player….we should be thrilled to have him and happy he extended with us. Sengun, Green, Amen are untouchables and the bright future of this franchise.
We wait til we have a viable replacement for him. If it winds up being Cam, great. If they find a shooting guard in the 2025 draft, great. If they clear enough cap space this summer to make a run at a Quentin Grimes or Ty Jerome, great. If Amen develops a respectable enough jumper and Reed pans out which makes both Fred and Jalen expendable, great. But let's have one of those scenarios play out first before we get rid of the guy.
Yall cooking me give me some grace this my first time using the forum and I wasn’t familiar. Plus I was doing it from mobile.
You could wait another year. Let the skeptics come around, let the bandwagon fill up. By then, everyone willl be singing Amen's praises. But me, I'm not waiting. The writing's already on the wall: Amen's the one and only untouchable. Everyone else = just pieces on the board.
Kind of funny when a guy starts replying to himself, but the usual suspects ignore the inanity of it and just want to keep arguing. I can't tell which is funnier.
Lol the teams would be after picks and not Jalen, Reed.......you think other teams are dumb enough to take our borderliners? I am sure that there are teams that do compensate developing players that were underdeveloped by their prior teams but not everyone.
