How many GMs would take Jalen over Ant? How many of them would think that "the gap isn't as big as folks like to make it?" You're making stuff up here and you know it.

Statistics? Really? That's how you measure how good a player is-by actual data? Man, I don't know about that...

I watched him torch us every game we played them. I ain't watching no highlights. The fact that you said Jalen is a better defender and rebounder means you lost all credibility.. Ant averages more rebounds and his defense metrics are all better. Do you not watch him in the playoffs last year shutting down opponents best player. They aren't even close. If we had Ant we'd probably win a ring this year.

I didn’t say JG was better, I said the gap isn’t as big… so your point of how many GMs would take JG over Ant is mute….

The gap isn't as big TO YOU. To everyone else, the gap is HUGE. All GMs in the NBA think that gap is HUGE. Jalen's mother thinks it's HUGE. Draya thinks it's HUGE. You're the only one who doesn't think this.

career avgs Edward’s 3pts more per game, 45% to JG 42%, 36% to 34% from 3 … that’s with Edward’s having a extra year experience, and not going through 2 Silas tanking years - that is not a huge gap

2 Silas years where his points per game were better but his advanced stats were bottom like.

    Vs

2 Udoka years where his points scored were down but his advanced stats improved
......still the True Shooting stayed about the same or trended down.

Someone asked me about this so I'll post here as well. One major weakness Jalen has had since being a rookie that he's slowly improved on a bit but still separates him from all star guards.

He needs strength and the mentality to finish through contact to get and-1 plays, bait oppenents and draw free throws at a high rate.

Ant Edwards and Shai draw higher and even double the free throws Jalen did last year. And they almost double his And-1 makes as well.

He was very skinny as a rookie and would get blow up inside or his shot blocked. As he's gotten stronger he's improved, but he needs to dominate there. If you watch Ant, Shai, even Mitchell, Booker, these guys can draw more fouls at a higher clip. Thats 2-5 more points per game left on the table, that wins close games and playoff games putting your team in the bonus etc. Look what Jimmy Butler was doing all series.

He needs explosive strength and the mentality to bait opponents and draw fouls at a high clip per game and get and-1 plays. He has to in order to reach the next level if possible.

The Lakers seem frustrated w Austin Reaves, he didn't play well in the playoffs either, but I think he would be an improvement over Jalen. I would look into a trade around AR for Jalen or Herro for Jalen. Amen and Herro would need to makeup. I think a slight upgrade is good enough and we run it back and try to develop Jabari, Cam, and Reed while keeping most of the picks. I would rather wait for another star to shake loose at some point a few years from now than overpay for Giannis or Booker. If you are going to give away all of the picks, it should be for Maxey.

The "gap" between Jalen and Ant is their trajectories. Ant improved every year while Jalen pretty much flatline for 3 years and then a little improvement in the 4th year.

Ant's rookie season was actually worse than Jalen's rookie season. (I remember people thought Ant was just an inefficient chucker -- sounds familiar?) But he progressively improved. His 4th year was way better than Jalen's 4th year, more efficient at higher volume.

So you use their career numbers and it seems that gap is not that big. That's because the earlier part of Ant's career was worse than Jalen's.

The question then is, will Jalen be able to take a big leap next season all the way to Ant's current level? Possible but not likely. I know development is not necessarily linear. But the older the guy gets, the less likely he will have significant jump.

I'd do this trade in a heart beat. AR is consistent and he plays with high IQ
