Stone and doing nothing goes hand in hand. Only time he actually does his job is when he's obligated to and that's during the draft. Best job in the world, you show up once a year.
Not saying I want this to happen but I think this might be what the rockets do. Trade for Durant without giving up Green , Segun or Twin. Let FVV walk, deal brooks, and sign Harden to a “team friendly” deal Sengun Durant Thompson Green Harden
You realize that Father Time is undefeated and even the Worriers have to rebuild at some point in the future.
I think the poster was defending Stone, as will I. Sometimes the best thing is to do nothing. Last thing we should do is panic and overpay for an aging veteran for a 1-2 year window at a championship. As painful as this exit was I think we finished the season ahead of expectations. No one predicted to be the second best team in the West. Why would we want to self destruct. OKC has a pretty good blue print. I think we should add complimentary pieces. Blowing up the core when you are one of the youngest teams in the league seems like an extreme over reaction. Now if I can get Giannis for Jalen Green and draft capital, I’m listening but we need to be making strategic moves not one that wreak of panic and desperation. We go right back to the years Harden kept blowing us up after losses in the playoffs.
We know we need shooters, we know we need upgrades guard play. It’s hard to acquire those players. Hear me out: Jared McCain. yes there’s only half a year of production, but he can shoot it and he can handle the ball. He’s on a rookie scale deal, and he’s possibly available. why would Philly deal him? I believe they are locked into trying to contend with the Paul George and Embid contracts on their books. Those contracts are not tradeable, and Philly fans don’t have the stomach for a rebuild. While I don’t think they’d move Maxey, if we made a strong offer focused around really good veterans for McCain, that might be appealing to Philly. Philly can use a Dillon Brooks. Does Dillon Brooks and a couple of picks get a deal done? It might. And sure McCain’s not super proven and coming off injury, but he might be that great shooting combo guard we need. All of the sudden our guard shooting looks much better and primed for the future: FVV, McCain, Reed, Amen, (Jalen?)
Dont get me wrong, the second seed this year was above expectations and a lot of posters seem content to let that grow….. However, that is a 2nd seeded regular season team. The playoffs have a different style of play that will plague us until we have an alpha to get us a bucket consistently in half court. Options? - the price point may be lower for Durant… Giannis and booker will cost a ton…. Maxey or McCain available? I would like that….any other possibilities besides Harden (not gonna happen) Prediction - stone resigns FVV and lets the core develop one more year. His history is to stand pat and be patient (to a fault IMO)
This. Reed has shown some offensive chops not only with his deadeye shooting but also his ability to pass coupled with uncanny court vision. He just needs to be given time to develop and gain more experience. Imagine IF he was given the leash that Jalen had since he was drafted. He must also be encouraged to be more assertive on the court now that he is no longer a rookie. He should be given the keys to control the offense. He has shown the ability to enable better ball movement when given control of the ball. He should not be passing early and running to the corner and instead set up the offense more. My point is that he may or may not be the player that I envision him to be based on a very limited sample of his NBA game. But I believe he has the tools that just need to be developed more by Ime.
Agreed. I’d love to see Green packaged with # 9 and move into the top 4. Resign FVV to split time with Reed. Give me one of Bailey, Edgecombe, or Harper to compete with Cam for minutes at the 2. Let Reed, Cam and our rookie SG play through their issues like Green did. Amen and Sengun should be featured and let the backcourt mature. I expect Reed will have exceeded Jalen after 4 years of steady minutes.
Found this on The Ringer: https://www.theringer.com/2025/05/0...ade-rumors-giannis-antetokounmpo-kevin-durant Here are some key excerpts: The Rockets finished the regular season 12th in offensive rating, but so much of that standing is thanks to second-chance opportunities, a low turnover rate, and defensive havoc that created advantages on the other end. When games slowed down, they were stagnant and flavorless, ranking 22nd in the half court. Per Bball Index, Houston also ranked 18th in overall shot quality, and the only team that made the playoffs with a lower true shooting percentage was the Orlando Magic. The struggles were magnified in the postseason, when the Rockets were even less efficient in the half court, posting an effective field goal percentage that was higher only than that of the Magic and Grizzlies—which is not great when you realize Fred VanVleet turned into an actual fireball halfway through the series. Spacing was still an issue, though, demonstrated by two putrid bookend performances in the opener and finale wherein they failed to score 90 points. Alperen Sengun was particularly inefficient, unable to enjoy some of the edge he had during the regular season. Jalen Green was predictably a disaster. For the entire roster, every other play seemed like a Sisyphean bum rush to the boards; Houston’s formula wasn’t to make shots so much as to take them and then fight for the misses. That all sounds bad, but it doesn’t necessarily make what happened a disaster. Falling to Steph Curry and the Warriors in seven games is more of a learning experience than a deflating catastrophe. Through the first four games, the Rockets were outscored by only nine points while making a playoff-worst 63.2 percent of their free throws. Games were competitive. The gap separating Houston from the aging, experienced, and desperately self-aware Warriors, who had the two best players in the series, wasn’t insurmountable. Pretty much every battle—including Game 7, at home—could have been the Rockets’. Now that it’s over, all eyes will be on Rockets general manager Rafael Stone, who almost has too many trade chips at his disposal. As a reminder, Houston owns Phoenix’s first-round picks in 2025, 2027, and 2029, plus Dallas’s first-round pick in 2029, plus a pick swap with Brooklyn in 2027. Stone can either wait for some homegrown seeds to sprout or go into another garden and snatch up some flowers that have already bloomed. Restraint or action. There’s no wrong answer, per se, but prudence may carry less risk. Houston is ahead of schedule and still has time on its side.
Don't know how... Even if they unloaded everyone not named Lebron, Luka, and Reaves, that's 30 million in cap space for the other 12 spots. Maybe a mid level or other exception, but that's not what I would describe as big money. I think the FVV delay is to see what Adams' market value is so they can try to keep both.
I’m in the minority here but I’m fine running it back. At least until the trade deadline. please don’t listen to those stupid group thinking articles / voices out there.
Really depends on what running it back means if it means extending Fred, resigning, Adams, and adding a shot creator and shooter in free agency through the MLE I am open to that especially depending on how the draft goes
I think the Rockets need to re-evaluate the talent that they have. Why are we treating the 2nd pick in the draft like he is the star of the team and the guy drafted 3rd the following year like a scrub bench player? Some guys need to be moved as starters and some need to move to the bench, some need to have a bigger role and some need to take a step back. Give everyone of the core 7 a fair shot on the team. Maybe guys like Jabari and Tari need to be more involved. Didn’t Ime compare Tari to Kawhi? Let’s see what he can do.
Win the lottery. PG Amen Thomson SG Dillon Brooks SF Cooper Flagg PF Jabari Smith C Alperen Sengun Bench Fred Van Vleet (resigned) Reed Sheppard Tari Eason Jalen Green Steven Adams (resigned)
in doing nothing stone built the 2 seed in the west with a pack of kids reed is already better than jg on both ends more stoooopid in here
There is white smoke and I am hearing the Rockets have acquired their newest franchise player. BIG if true!
