I know it was probably inevitable, but I'd add Yao's injury. And I still maintain we win even without CP3 if Moute hadn't been injured too.
I dont Tillman deserves the hate here. Other than the Jalen Green infatuation the Rockets are on a great path. I don't think Stone is a particularly great GM but I do think he is a lucky one. Luck is a skill. You replace Jalen for someone good and the Rockets are instantly a contender. Hell even this year we was borderline contender. The defense we played was outstanding and its only going to get better. Everyone we have will get better.
Losing to Seattle after the rings made us lose Horry and Cassell as they were hitting their primes. Horry / Cassell > Barkley/Maloney
T-Mac and Yao could have won it all if they'd both been 100% throughout their late 20s/early 30s. The squad of roleplayers we had around them was actually really good from like 2007 on but they were never really healthy once the supporting cast was in place. That was definitely a snakebit period for us.
There's been a hell of a lot of luck that has happened from when he destroyed a 65 win team, to get to the point now with a quick rebuild instead of a much longer one. Don't forget, this is the owner who wanted Oladipo extended for example. He's been saved from his own stupidity which has proven vitally important to being where the team is now. I agree with you though, replace Jalen and they're golden.
He's an inefficient scorer who is in love with bad midrange shots and plays no defense. He will probably make a good number of all-star games over his career, but I don't think you can win a championship if he's your best player, and I don't think the way he plays works off the ball as a #2 option. To me that's textbook fool's gold, a guy who tricks you into thinking he's a superstar but can't actually do a superstar's job. Really glad we didn't end up with him, it could have been a huge waste of time for this franchise.
You don't know basketball bruh He's averaging 29 pts 45 percent fg, 42 percent from 3 and gets to the free throw line about 8 times a game in the PLAYOFFS!!!! He's a go to scorer who is only getting better. You can question his defense all you want but he would make the Rockets a bona-fide contender with the defensive supporting cast
He is averaging 32% from three, not 42% Nearly half of his shots are from the midrange, and he's converting on them in the low-40s percentage-wise. It absolutely tanks his efficiency and wastes a ton of possessions. Those are some of the worst shots in basketball, and he's in love with them. Orlando's record with him was 4 games below .500 this season, and without him was 4 games above .500. There's a reason for that--he's kind of an empty box score guy.
He is right, above 42% in the playoffs. 32% in regular season. Celtics series: 29/8/4 on 44/44/66 shooting Cavs series last year: 27/9/4 on 46/40/76 shooting 12 career playoff games: 28/9/4 on 45/42/71 shooting
Too small of a sample size--I assumed he was talking about regular season because Paolo has barely played in the playoffs. But, fair.
No Rockets fan was scared of the Bulls. We had the matchups to beat them and the regular season records show it to be true. More like Jordan is lucky he never faced Hakeem in the Finals.
Paolo finding a way to be more efficient is the only thing that slowed him down and he could make it right.
